List building can be very lucrative when you know how to do this. There are certain factors that will help you to make more profit with your lists. Here are a few:

  • Find a profitable niche: the way to make the most profit out if your list is to work a niche market. You can find these markets in a number of ways. The reason that they are so lucrative is because these markets are in high demand but do not have too many people working them. This cuts down your competition and increases your chances for sales and profits.
  • Be sure you build your list with targeted subscribers: This is one of the most important things to remember when building your list. Some marketing methods will increase your list fast but not provide you with responsive subscribers. This will not make a profitable list. Remember it is not size but response that matters. Some people do not have huge lists but still make good profits. This is because they have been careful in their promotions to only select subscribers from their niche markets. Examples of targeted marketing methods are:
    • Google Adwords: this is one of the fastest ways of getting targeted people to your website who will be interested to sign up for your lists.
    • Search engine submission: This can take a little longer for the search engines to index your site but in the long run it will ensure a steady stream of highly qualified visitors to your website.
    • Blogging: You will need to choose your category and content well so that you can attract the right crowd. Links from blogs can bring many great visitors to your website.
    • Article distribution: again this is a powerful way to draw targeted traffic to your website. The more articles you distribute the more your visitors will increase.
  • Check your open rates: in order to retain your subscribers and be sure that they are responsive always check your email open rates. For newsletters this is especially important as you cannot communicate with your subscribers if they do not open your publication. Experiment with subject lines and different topics to improve open rates.
  • Make sure your offers are targeted to your subscribers:
    • Be aware of your market’s needs and wants so that you can advertise the right offers to them. When you do this you will be able to get maximum response from your list.
    • You can also keep an announcement list for subscribers who are interested in new products and services.
    • Splitting lists into targeted groups allows you to sell more and make extra profit from your list.

 

These are just a few ways to make a lucrative list. The key to success is pinpointing or targeting your potential subscribers and making sure that they are going to be responsive readers. After all it is no good building a list that does not buy. So do your market research and always be in tune with your subscribers.
