Most people know how serious an accusation of drinking and driving is,How To Avoid Having To Hire a DUI Attorney After a Night of Drinking Articles yet they still do it. If it seems unrealistic to you to avoid this kind of problem, know that you do not have to avoid alcohol altogether to follow the law. Instead of having to pay for a DUI attorney to represent you, consider some ways to make sure you can home safely after drinking.

One of the most obvious solutions is to get a ride to and from the place where you plan to drink. You can have a friend be a designated driver, at which point you need to find out if he or she will be staying with you as you have fun, or simply dropping you off and picking you up. You can also choose to drive to the destination, and simply call someone to pick you up if necessary. Just make sure you have a way of getting back to your car the next day, and that you are comfortable leaving it there. Make sure you also lock it before you leave it overnight, and try to select a parking lot with lots of lights or even security cameras or guards to keep it safe.

Another way to avoid having to hire a DUI attorney is to get a cab to and from the place where you will drink. Many bars offer cab rides for free, as they have a contract in which they pay the cab company for unlimited rides. You just have to bring some cash to tip, but this is still usually a great deal, and it is much cheaper than hiring a DUI attorney. You may have to pay to get a ride back to your vehicle in the morning, though you could also just ask a friend for a ride. Again, make sure you are comfortable with the spot where you leave your vehicle overnight.

You can also arrange to spend the night where you plan to consume alcohol. Clearly, this will not work at a bar, unless it is attached to a hotel. It often works well if you are hanging out at a friend or family member's house, though. Try to plan ahead so you have the necessities, such as a toothbrush, but staying the night at the last minute is still better than having to drink and drive, even if it means you do not brush your teeth one night.

You could always try to sober up before you drive home, though this is not usually feasible if you have been consuming hard alcohol for hours. But after a few beers or glasses of wine, you may find that you are okay to drive after you consume some water and food over a couple of hours. Just note that some states have zero tolerance policies, meaning any alcohol in your system can get you in legal trouble, even if you do not feel affected as you drive. If you are not sure, stay on the safe side and try to get a ride home, as this is always cheaper than getting a DUI attorney.
