As a marketer it is your job to establish a connection with your client. How do you develop a connection with someone you just met, with someone you don't know anything about? This happens all the time, whether it's between business to consumer or business to business. There are often misconceptions or misunderstandings within the marketplace from time to time, which can be avoided. Here are some notions to think about to help you find your inner marketing. 

  • Understand the Difference Between a Service and  a Product: A product is a tangible object, you can utilize your senses to interact with or use it, whereas services are intangible, as they must be performed. The purchase of a service requires trust. You don't know what the service is like until, you've experienced it. The consumer needs to feel like they can trust you. They have nothing to go by, besides the way you break down your experience. 
  • Know the Difference Between Small and Big Business Markets: Big business markets have full-time employees who are constantly working on marketing and sales. They have the budget to advertise, earning them name recognition. Small businesses are completely opposite. Even though they work on the same projects, they don't have the budget to make it as big as big businesses. Small businesses have to work harder to succeed. They can't waste their money on campaigning and advertisements, they have to promote their work through word of mouth or social media. 
  • One-to-one Marketing vs. One-to-many: It all depends on how much business you receive. If you get a large amount of clients, you might want to turn your focus to social media networking. This could very well help you handle multiple clients at once, and since bigger businesses usually have more traffic, they have more employees to help that traffic flow. Smaller businesses help you develop a deeper connection with you client. You have less traffic, but this benefits you to really focus on the wants and needs of your consumer, leaving them feeling satisfied with their decision in working with you. 
  • The Difference Between B2B, B2C & SB2SB: B2B represents business to business, B2C represents business to consumer and SB2SB represents small business to small business. B2B might have a better chance promoting themselves or networking through LinkedIn, while B2C or SB2SB might be more efficient using Facebook or twitter.
