The Government of India has regularized specific saving schemes for the welfare of citizens. These schemes are added into movement with one common objective- a guide to all individuals. One such scheme is Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana introduced by means of the Prime Minister of India on 15 August 2014.

The following facilities will be provided under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, which was originally designed keeping in mind the poor.

  • Jeevan Bima Suvidha: Under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, account holders will be given life insurance of a minimum amount of Rs 30000 / - along with Accidental Insurance of 1 lakh.
  • Loan facility: The poor have to depend on moneylenders for money at the time of the objection, due to which moneylenders take advantage of their helplessness and take the desired interest from them and the poor are not free from that debt. But under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, the account holder can take the amount up to Rs.5000 / - directly from the bank in a gap of six months. Which instills a sense of self-dependence among the poor.
  • Zero Balance Facility: For other savings account, it is mandatory for the account holder to deposit some minimum amount in the bank account, this amount is only for the account holder. But keeping in mind the situation of the poor, accounts are being opened without any amount under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, which is called Zir Balance Facility.
  • Rupee Card Facility: Like other ATM cards, the rupee card facility is being provided to the account holder of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. This rupee card works like other ATMs. With the Rupee Card, account holders can withdraw money from any bank's ATM machine. This card can be used four times in a month, if used more than this, you will have to pay a few rupees.
  • Mobile facility: Like other accounts, all information about the account of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana can be obtained through a message on mobile. There is no need for expensive Android phones, this facility is also available on ordinary mobiles.
  • Nonantum Age: Under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, the account can be opened by child/girl of more than 10 years of age, which can be looked after by their parents.
  • Small Account or Small Account: A proper identity card is mandatory to open an account in any bank, but if no one has it, then they can open their account under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, in which any proof attested by any gazetted officer An account can be opened by depositing it in a letter bank, which is kept in the count of low-risk account and it is called a small account which lasts for a period of one year.
  • Changing the account type: If someone already has an account in any bank, then he can get his account transferred under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana so that he can take all the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.
