A friend of mine told of an incident that happened to her daughter the other day. It seems she met a man in a chat room a couple of weeks ago and they seemed to hit it off almost immediately. The man lived in Nigeria,Beware or Be A Victim Articles but wanted to come to the United States and start a new business. It would take a few days for him to get his finances in order so he could transfer his funds into an American bank. He would meet her on Friday in New York City. This was on a Monday. Wednesday this lady’s daughter got an email supposedly from this man’s mother informing her that her son had been killed Tuesday in an automobile accident. Because her son’s money was still in the process of being transferred it would take 7 days before the family had access to the money. She needed $3,000.00 to bury her son. The mother wanted her to loan her the money and she promised to pay her $6,000.00 when her son’s money was released. I checked with the bank that was supposed to be handling the money transfer. They didn’t have any record of anyone by that name. My friend’s daughter almost fell for this newest scam to come out of Nigeria.
