However,2011: What Electronic Component is In Critical Demand? Articles what components will be in critical demand in 2011? The answer might be the passive components. There are two factors to explain such answer when dwelling on this issue.

First, the electronic products’ upgrading, such as smart phone and tablet computers are driving the demand for passive components.

In the first month of 2011, the orders for passive electronic components are climbing higher and higher, showing that the electronic market is warming though productions on personal computers, laptops and DVD players are decreasing. It is said that smart phones and tablet PCs will replace the dominance of PCs, and the worldwide sales on are expected to reach 4200 million units! Passive components, which are generally thought of as inductors, capacitors and resistors, are ubiquitous in industrial and consumer electronics, forming the interconnectivity required for active devices. Total sales of passive devices, including modular devices, in 2009 was $22 billion, and even with the downturn in the worldwide economy, the market continues to grow, albeit somewhat more slowly than in the past. Therefore, due to recent years large demand on electronic products’ upgrading, the passive component market will remain a strong growth in 2011.

Second, new emerging applications are raising the demand on passive electronic components.

Passive components represent a growing industry that will be driven by customer demand for specialized passive components and passive components in modular packages.  In the coming years, besides the LED lighting, intelligent television, e-book reader, new energy and medical electronics will become the new markets for passive components.

However, due to the copper metal prices began to rise since the second half year of 2010, which pushed up the cost of passive components, in order to relieve the pressure from material prices, the passive component manufacturers are likely to take measures to raising the product prices. It is time to regulate the technique direction for electronic components market in this beginning season.
