Both the film cameras and the digital cameras are based on the same technology. The difference is the device of image picking of a digital camera is electronic while the device of film camera for this task is chemical. The camera is available in a variety of designs,The Digital Camera- making reality widespread Articles sizes and under many brands. Almost every modern mobile phone consists of a camera too nowadays. Nevertheless, professional photographers and students who learn photography use larger cameras such as single-lens cameras or DSLRs because they are more versatile than average cameras.

In addition, in specific fields such as defense, astronomy, medical, science etc, more advanced digital cameras are used. The compact digital camera is a very small portable camera. More often it is recognized as a point-and-shoot camera. The thickness of this type of a camera is about 22 mm while the size is about a credit card. This camera has retractable lens thus allowing the user to capture more space of an image than that with a mobile phone camera. More often, the compact or ultra compact cameras have no complex mechanism. The images taken are in JPEG format that contain lesser resolutions.

Another type of digital camera is the bridge camera. They are more like DSLR cameras but contain small lens and inbuilt sensor. Even though many have auto focus facility, most of these types have both auto focus and manual focus facility. Even though the bridge cameras are small and contain small sensor, the lens is advanced to have super zooming ability. This type of camera is ideal for taking outdoor sceneries in the daytime. The 3D photo image facility is also found in the bridge digital cameras for stereo displaying. Even though the quality of images from a bridge digital camera are almost similar to that of DSLR camera, if they are taken in bright daylight, the quality can be lower than when taken in low light conditions.

When selecting a better camera, one has to consider many aspects. Some of them are quality of images, image storage capacity, and versatility, containing features and loaded software. Another important aspect is the computer systems on which the particular camera can be used. Nevertheless, unlike earlier days, the difference of computer systems to work a digital camera is now almost void since all the modern computers are compatible with digital cameras. Nevertheless, the selector of those cameras should see whether there are any differences with the camera he selects with regarding to its compatibility with any particular computer platforms.
