The Lake District is undeniably one of the most beautiful and natural parts of Chile. One of the greatest places to go while visiting Pucón is an area not too distant known as the Termas or Volcanic Hot Springs.  These hot springs are like natural health spas complete with ready bubbling hot water to go and soak in. You can lay back and relax with a refreshing glass of wine or Pisco Sour in one of the many thermal hotspot locations. Termas de Panqui is the area’s most unconventional thermal baths because it has a New Age vibe with its material and spiritual mix of Mapuche rucas, Lakota tipis, yoga, tai chi, meditation and full-moon retreats in a rustic setting. If that was not enough there are also hot pools, mud baths and a vegetarian restaurant. This could dual as a perfect romantic getaway for couples need a little relaxation.

If you are looking to go on a hike while in Pucón then Huerquehue National Park is ideal for you.  This wildlife reserve is home to diverse flora and fauna.  There are multiple options for trekking depending on how much time you would like to spend at the park. During your trek you will pass the breathtakingly beautiful Lake Tinquilco. There are opportunities to stop here if you want to kayak, rowboat, fly fish or horseback ride. You can also take a moment to appreciate surrounding gurgling brooks and waterfalls.  If you want to spend the night, there is a refugio and two campsites.  You will not be disappointed with this idyllic location with all it has to offer.

In Pucón, thousands of adventure seeker travelers make the climb to Mount Villarica each year. Most people tend to do this in December, January and February. On the climb to the top you can see other volcanoes Llaima, Choshuenco, Quetrupillán, Lanin and Lonquimay in the distance. The extremely hot red magma can be seen at the top of this still active volcano. Most guided excursions to the volcano normally begin around 7am, but some agencies offer an earlier 5am start. This would give you the advantage to reach the volcano alone with your team and avoid big crowds that arrive later.

A word of advice for those looking to book Pucón, due to the popularity of the spot the best time to visit is outside of the peak seasons. These high traveling seasons tend to lay in the summer and winter. In summer, the main beach is very packed with tourists that you will find other people literally only a few feet from you. There is a lot of beach to be found in Pucón, but everyone tends to congregate in a patch of a couple hundred meters in front of the Gran Hotel Pucón. You can hire boats, go windsurfing and rent jet skis there. Other than those considerations, Pucón is a great destination for your next Chile vacation.
