If you are someone who appreciates summer music festivals, then now is the time to start looking into cheap travel options, whether cheap airplane tickets and discount hotel rooms, cheap auto rentals, or cheap vacation packages that will tie into whichever festival piques your fancy.

The following are music festivals across North America that Budget Travel has identified as offering the best performances where tickets are still available:

The Soundset Festival is staged in Canterbury Park,Guest Posting Minnesota.  This is a hip hop festival that offers over nine hours of music from 40 artists on two stages.  May 29th is the date.  Acts include Atmosphere, Big Boi, Brother Ali De La Soul, and Slaughterhouse.  Ticket prices start at $38.

The Bonnaroo Festival is staged in Manchester, Tennessee and is a four day camping festival on a 700 acre farm.  The acts are primarily rock and roll, but hip-hop and electronica are also included.  The dates are from June 9th to the 12th.  Acts include Arcade Fire, The Black Keys, Buffalo Springfield, Eminem, Lil Wayne, My Morning Jacket, and Widespread Panic.  Ticket prices start at $155.

The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts is staged in State College, Pa.  This Arts Festival attracts about 125,000 people to downtown State College to celebrate art, music, and culture of central Pennsylvania.  This will be the 51st year of the festival and will include rock and roll, bluegrass, jazz and more.  The dates are July 13th through the 17th.  Acts include Billy Bauer Band, Straight Drive and The Ultra Kings.  The price is free.

The Osheaga Festival is staged in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  This festival brings together musical artists from diverse backgrounds, both local and internationally renowned attracting over 70,000 music fans.  Its dates are July 29th to the 31st.  Acts include Cypress Hill, Death Cab For Cutie, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Eminem,  Janelle Monae, The Flaming Lips, KiD CuDi, and Lupe Fiasco.  Three day general admission tickets start at $225.

The Lollapalooza Festival is staged in Chicago’s Grant Park and needs over 115 acres to showcase the over 130 diverse artists and bands.  Dates are August 5th through the 7th.  Acts include Cee Lo Green, Coldplay, DeadMau5, Eminem, My Morning Jacket, Muse and Perfect Circle.  Regular 3 day passes are available starting at $215.

The Outside Lands Festival is staged in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and plays host to rock’s and hip hop’s hottest stars.  The dates are August 12 through the 14th.  Acts include Arcade Fire, Badu, The Black Keys, DeadMau5, Erykah, Muse, Phish, The Roots and the Shins.  General admission tickets have sold out, but regular three day tickets from $199.50 have limited availability.

The Burning Man Festival is staged in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada.  Burning Man hosts close to 50 thousand people in the middle of the Nevada Desert for a week as part of an experimental community where art, music, and self expression are featured.  Each participant must decide how to contribute to this year’s theme: Rites of Passage.  Dates are August 29th through September 5th.  The acts are the participants.  Tickets start from $210.
