The residence is called Kaba Gandhi No Delo, deriving the name from Mahatma Gandhi's father's name, Kaba Gandhi. Today, both of these are popular attractions in the city. The latter one, that is Gandhi's residence is turned into a fine museum still housing the belongings of Mahatma, and the articles that he used at some point in his life.



Founded by Thakur Saheb Vibhaji Ajoji Jadeja, Rajkot was the seat of the Jadeja clan since 1612 AD. Today, it is the a major centre of commerce and administration as it is the fourth largest city in the state of Gujarat. The city finds fame for jewellery, in fact it has one of the largest markets of gold. The market is known as Soni Bazaar and is the core of action in the city. Being a popular landmark, the bazaar is easy to access. All the modes of local transportation are available to the bazaar. Apart from gold and jewellery, Rajkot is also famous for producing watch parts, silk embroidery, and its long association with reagality.



Rajkot tourism is a slip into the past; it is an opportunity to experience the regal hospitality and history. The city has number of attractions, and before one slips to the tourist destinations located in the vicinity to Rajkot, a visit to all the city's allures and attractions is a must.



If one is into exploring the wilderness, there is an excellent sanctuary in the vicinity of the city. The sanctuary is called the Rampara Wildlife Sanctuary, and a day's excursion is sufficient to explore and relish the tour of the place. The sanctuary is more of a compact woodland that is home to a diverse and wide species of flora and fauna. This includes: 130 birds species, 20 species of mammals and reptiles, and about 280 species of flora. The major highlights of the forest include: Blue Bull, Fox, Chinkara, Hyena, and Wolf. The sanctuary was declared a reserved forest in 1983, which was the result of the efforts of the government to protect and provide shelter to wild animals. Before being a reserve forest the place belonged to the Wankaner princely state and used to be their hunting ground.


There is a standard airport in the city, called as Rajkot Airport. Besides, there are number of trains to the city from all parts of India. The long train routes includes trains from Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Jammu-Tavi, Kolkata, and Bangalore etc. Meanwhile, there exist number of hotels near Rajkot railway station, offering satisfactory stay at reasonable price.
