With so many different things to experience,Planning A Mexico City Vacation From Start To Finish: Places You Shouldn't Miss Articles there's nothing like a Mexico City vacation. The local area has hundreds of attractions that you should absolutely make time for. Whether you're planning on staying for a day or a week, here are some attractions that you definitely shouldn't miss.

Museo Memoria y Tolerancia

Although the subject isn't a happy one, the Museo Memoria y Tolerancia is something that definitely shouldn't be missed. The museum brings to life the horrors of the holocaust and the genocides that took place in Rwanda, Armenia, Bosnia and Uganda. Although it's sobering, the message is an important one. The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is closed Mondays and costs $65 pesos (about $5 USD). Because of the intense message of the exhibits, the museum isn't recommended for small children.

Museo De Arte Popular

If traditional, local art is more your style, pay a visit to the Museo De Arte Popular. If you're concerned that you won't understand the history behind the art exhibits, don't worry. Many of the descriptions are also in English. The gift shop offers visitors the chance to purchase local arts and crafts from all over the country. Although many gift shops have a reputation of being overpriced with mass produced wares, that's not the reality at Museo de Arte Popular.

Catedral Metropolitana

If you love to tour ancient churches and other important religious sites, a trip to the Catedral Metropolitana is in order. Although it's a Catholic Church, people of any religious affiliation can appreciate the beauty both inside and outside. Visitors who choose to take the rooftop tour are treated with a stunning view of the city for only 15 pesos (about $1 USD). The Catedral Metropolitana is located in the middle of the town, which means it's close to a number of other attractions.

Zocalo

Although not a single attraction, the Zocalo plaza is a bustling place to spend an afternoon. The area is not far from the Catedral Metropolitana and in the winter even has its own ice skating rink. It's one of the oldest parts of Mexico City and the ancient buildings that line the plaza are architecturally some of the most beautiful ones throughout the city. Here you can find shops, restaurants and museums to keep you busy.

Other Mexico City Attractions

These are only a very small slice of the things to do in Mexico City. Other attractions include the Palacio Nacional, the neighborhood of Coyoacan, the Palacio de Bellas Artes and the Castillo de Chapultepec.

Before you experience a Mexico City vacation, take the time to research the different attractions that you want to visit. With so many things to do, you'll be sure to create the ideal vacation, no matter what you're interested in.
