Planning Your Vacation Around Hotels

Once you pick a location for your vacation, the next step is to consider the hotels. Many people plan their vacation around the place they stay. In other words, if they stay on the beach, that's where they spend a great deal of their time. If they choose a facility that's close to a shopping area, they tend to spend more time in that shopping area than they would otherwise. Before you choose any place to call your home away from home, think about what you want to do then locate the perfect place.

Do You Really Want to Stay on the Water?

Hotels on the beach are some of the best. These are the most sought after because they provide access to the beach. Who really wants to lug around all of their children's play toys, towels, chairs and sunscreen half of a mile from the car to the beach? Yet, you do have to consider a few other things.
You may be closer to traffic and more crowds. You will also have to deal with the noise coming from the beaches throughout the day and, sometimes, into the evening.

What's the cure for this? Choose a hotel that's on the beach, but that has a private, secluded area of the sand for hotel guests. Some facilities actually have the ability to block off some area for just their guests to use. This provides the ability to be close but also to be away from the overwhelming crowds.

Should You Stay Elsewhere?

Even destination is different, but if you choose a facility that's a few miles inland, you may see some benefits as well. You will have to lug your beach gear to an access point, but you may be able to pay significantly less for your stay. Some locations offer better amenities in non-beach hotels because the cost per square foot is simply less. That means suites can be larger and packed with more amenities that you may want. On the other hand, if you plan to spend most of your vacation in the sand, this may not be the right option.

Which Is Right for You?

Before you make a decision, take a look at the features and amenities the facility has to offer. Decide if that location has anything truly unique to offer that's perfect for the type of experience you plan to have.

In other words, when it comes to choosing hotels, look for those that offer the type of experience you hope to have. Don't just choose one that's on the beach or in the commercial district. Know what your experience will be in that destination if you choose that specific facility.
