The important tennis tournament Roland Garrós, which is being played on clay, will attract the elite tennis players from all over the world to Paris from the 23rd of May until the 5th of June. The event, besides having an own media coverage of the large events, will not only capture the attention of sport enthusiasts, but also of foreigners and locals wanting to enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere and romantic characteristics of the city of the Seine.

Thanks to the triumph of its four members (Jacques Brugnont, Jean Borotra, Henri Cochet and René Lacoste), France was chosen the headquarter of the revenge, which made it necessary to build a stadium with the quality required by the most important worldwide competition regarding team play, in less than one year.

The new stadium, located in an area of three hectares donated by the city of Paris, would be baptized with the name of Roland Garrós in honour of a French official who for the first time steered an airplane through the Mediterranean. Later the precinct gave the name to the tournament.

Roland Garrós has become one of the sports events that can be proud of an excellent international projection. Since the start of the tournament champions with a great importance like Rod Laver, Bjorn Borg, Manuel Santana, Fred Perry and Ilie Nastase have played in the stadium. In the female rows they emphasize on Suzanne Lenglen, Helen Wills, Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf, Arantxa Sánchez Vicar and Mónica Seles.

The Open of Australia, the U.S. Open and Wimbledon complete the list of respected competitions considered in the Grand Slam.
