The Uffizi Gallery doesn’t need any introduction. What the Lovre means to Paris is the Uffizi Gallery means to Florence. Millions of visitors from across the globe are attracted by the amazing artworks of the Uffizi gallery every year. It is located at the center of Florence in the region of Tuscany in Italy.

History 

The construction of the Uffizi Gallery was started in 1560 under the instruction of Giorgio Vasari for the purpose of accommodation for the Magistrate of Florence. Hence the name is Uffizi (Uffizi- Museum). It took 21 years to complete the building. It was completed in 1581.  Later the first floor of the building was converted into a museum that has the collections of Roman sculpture for the tenant's family and their guests.

So if you are planning to visit this museum it is advisable to check it out on the internet and make a proper plan which artworks are you wanted to explore more. It is better to make a proper plan before visiting rather than spending the whole day seeing all the artworks in a busy way.

 

How to get there:

As the Uffizi Gallery is located in the center of Florence, it is easy to reach there.  The Uffizi gallery is located at a distance of 10 minutes from the Santa Maria Novella train station. From there you can go to the gallery on foot only. 

 

When to go:

To enjoy properly, spend at least half a day at the Uffizi gallery. The crowd at the Uffizi gallery is maximum on the weekends. So avoid visiting this place on the weekends if possible. Also, there is more rush between 11 am -3 pm at the Uffizi Gallery. So if you want to explore more without any hassle, avoid visiting here on weekends and between 11 am -3 pm. It is closed on Mondays. The ticket lines outside the Uffizi gallery is very long and it will take several hours to get the ticket. So, in order to avoid the long ticket lines, it is recommended to go for online tickets. 

 

Tips and advice 

Book the tickets online as early as possible to avoid the rush.

Head straight to the top floor, you will find there the most famous paintings by famous architects.

Purchase an audio guide before the entry, it will guide you inside the gallery and give you a detailed explanation about all the artworks there.
