Upon entering Glastonbury,Magic Area Articles one cannot help but notice that there is something about this small town that is not therein others in the area. This is no sleepy little town but instead the town has a beat of its own. A very upbeat and peppy tune that reminds you of, in turns, a river dance, a Pied Piper, a country fair bandstand, a jazz trio jamming session and an elegant waltz in a royal ballroom. At least, these were the images that ran through my mind when I walked through this unique small town. I had come looking to meet some of the famous Glastonbury mediums. I had a feeling I was going to meet a whole lot more.

Sitting on the ancient site of the Isle of Avalon in the Somerset Levels, the town has been home to a great abbey in the Middle Ages. Legend has it that King Arthur and Guinevere were buried here. They say that Jesus himself visited and that Joseph of Arimathaea built a church here. It is also rumored to be an ancient site of the Goddess. The most compelling feature is the Glastonbury Tor, a holy hill. Today this town is home to almost 10,000 people made up of a mix of locals, visitors (believers and nonbelievers alike) and those who came on a visit and never left. The town has become a mecca for psychics, mediums, gypsies, musicians, artists, writers, sculptors and just about any other creative type out there.

The power of the town is felt by everyone who comes there whether they acknowledge it or not. Mediums and psychics find that their own energy is stronger when they read here. Creativity flows for those who are so inclined. Even those that have a health concern feel much stronger and healthier when they stay and absorb the energy that flows so freely through this amazing place.

On my way to visit various mediums throughout the town, I kept asking one common question. “Why settle down in this town?” if they were not local and if they were “Why stay with so much competition?” The answers were always the same – “I cannot imagine staying anywhere else.” No other explanation was given or needed. I felt the pull too. All mediums did.

Mediums sense the power in this town and in the potential for it to be misused. Some of them who stay feel the responsibility to make sure that it is protected. They form an unofficial guardianship and take care of the town in their own way.

Glastonbury is a treasure that most people do not realize exists. There is no way to fully describe it except to say that if you ever get a chance, go. You will not regret it.
