The winter solstice arrived in late December and with that came a few more minutes of light in our days. So, what are you going to do with that extra light in your life? Now that winter is truly official, it will not be long until the ice, frigidly cold temperatures and car accidents make their first appearances in the new year. Of course, if you live in an area that has already seen some winter weather then you know what happens when the roads are covered with snow and ice. It is all too common for many people out there to forget all about weatherizing their vehicles like they would weatherize their homes for the winter. And, although getting some winter auto repair in is not something most people like to spend their hard earned money on, you will still need to get to your destination safely. So, with that in mind you should most definitely get your car ready for the snow and frosty temps. If you don't like to do the winter maintenance on your vehicle there are many mechanic shops out there that put winter weather tune ups on their menu. That means they will look to make sure your oil change is up to date. But, they will also look to make sure you have the right fluids in your car at the proper levels. The main fluids are oil, anti-freeze and of course wind shield wiper fluid.

Checking to see if your car is ready is a fairly easy thing to do yourself, but if you are not inclined to get out there now while the weather is cold, then you should make sure someone checks it out before you get on the road. Since, it is often a predicament for many a highway traveler to become stranded on the side of the highway because of improper snow tires, or just plain old bald tires that should have been replaced many, many miles ago. These folks usually find themselves stuck in a ditch with nowhere to turn.
