Without Car Repair - Worst Case Scenarios

Paying for car repair isn't fun but without it, things could get much worse. Think preventative maintenance tasks cost a lot? Try pricing major repairs that occurred because of sloppy maintenance practices. Think about what not being able to get to work will do to your budget. If a motorist doesn't cough up the cash to fix his or her vehicle, there could be disastrous consequences down the road. Here are some things to think about.

- Blown up engine: Did you know that not performing a simple car repair maintenance task such as changing the oil could result in a trashed engine? That's right. Oil is needed to lubricate all those metal parts that are rubbing together under the hood. Without this vital lubricant, it could be curtains for the main parts.

- Lost job: If you don't have a way to get to work because your garage pony won't get out of the barn, your boss isn't going to look favorably on your future with the company. Taking a bus or carpooling could be an option but neither of these choices are a guarantee of punctuality. A few times tardy or as a "no show" and you could be income free.

- Walking home late at night in a snowstorm: If you don't get car repair, instead of driving home one freezing winter night, you might find yourself sitting on the side of the road with a nonresponsive car. You knew the starter or battery was going out but since you failed to take it into the shop, you now get to freeze your toes off on the walk home.

- No way to get your sick child to the doctor: It's 3AM and your child is running a fever of 105 degrees. Holy smokes! You need to get the tot to the doctor but you never got around to fixing your auto and now it won't start. If you thought that performing the repair was a stressor on your budget, wait till you pay ambulance charges.

- No social life: That amazing person you've had your eye on for months has just said she'd love to go out for dinner with you. Yikes! You never got your car fixed and now you'll have to pick her up on your bicycle, meet her somewhere or have her pick you up. Will that make a good impression on your dreamboat? Perhaps not.

- Your boss wants you to drive her to the airport to talk about a possible promotion: Finally! You're in the running for a promotion at work and the opportunity to discuss it is evaporating in thin air because you don't have a working car to transport your boss to the airport. Never mind, she's asking another worker in your department to take her.

Having car repair done as it's needed will give you lots of freedom and opportunity. Without it, watch your engine blow up, your job go bye-bye, your toes freeze, an ambulance bill arrive in the mail, your dreamy date not happen and your promotion go to someone else at work.
