Avnish Goyal owns and runs Hallmark Healthcare homes in the UK,Avnish Goyal, Shining A Light On Care Homes Articles focusing on good facilities and high staff morale. In 2006 he was awarded newcomer of the year in the Eastern Eye Asian Business Awards, which honours those who are at the forefront of the Asian enterprise.

He started in the care home business after looking on enviously at his wife's family care homes in South Wales, where he decided to take the leap for himself. He knew that the industry tends to make headlines in the news for the wrong reasons, but he knew he could differentiate himself from the competition through providing high standards of care and good staff morale.

Goyal is passionate about inspiring others and motivating staff to do good work. As expansion plans show, the company is ambitious, though he has no plans to bring in outside investors as it is a family-run business that he believes should be run how they want it to.

Also, with outside investors, he's cautious that it would be difficult to justify the investment in his staff development when it may not improve overall turnover. Goyal says "Sometimes you can't put a number on something, but you know it's just the right thing to do and you'll see the benefits further down the line".

Goyal built the business based on the values instilled into him at a young age by his parents, a foundation of honesty and integrity. The biggest and latest achievement has always been being told by relatives how happy the care home residents are.

In under ten year since Goyal started the first care home, Hallmark have grown to over 1,100 staff and has plans to increase the number of beds to over 5,000. Goyal knows that there's more to a care home than just a bed! He takes every effort to provide state-of-the-art facilities for the residents, installing the latest equipment in cinema and hydrotherapy for the care homes.

His success began all the way back when he started working for his father's newsagent shop at the age of 11. Waking up early every morning to do the paper rounds, together with his brothers and sisters.

In the 1980s, Goyal was an accountant for Coopers & Lybrand. He left accountancy in 1991 to start work with his two older brothers to develop the family's portfolio of properties in London. After this is when he fittingly got into his current, lifelong ambition.

As well as run a care home business, Goyal is a motivational speaker for events, sharing his personal story of how he created the life he believes he deserves.

Outside of work, Goyal helps the Hemraj Goyal Foundation, which was created in memory of the father and grandfather of the founding members. The HFG foundation helps raise and distribute money to organisations who help disadvantaged children, promote women's rights and help those with disabilities. If that wasn't enough he is also the director of Yes Group Essex, which aims to be the best in personal and professional development in and around Essex.
