Proactive,The best leadership styles the corporate can learn from animal world Articles futuristic, realistic, responsive and reactive, how these terms go well in corporate?  Which type of leadership quality is dominant in most corporate world vis-à-vis in the life of the employees? Can we draw a parallel between animal world and corporate world relating to the above?  If so, how the different leadership qualities described above is manifested both in animal and in the corporate world?

We may need to give a loud thought on how the corporate employees go about in dealing different situations by displaying different leadership qualities such as proactive, futuristic, realistic, responsive and reactive.

In corporate, more often than not, people confuse with the above leadership qualities and generally mix up and mess up one with the other.

Too much of realistic and reactive leadership are portrayed/demonstrated by the corporate in general.  In truth, most corporate are less futuristic and are least proactive.  They confuse the ‘present’ with too much of proactive assertion and would create a pandemonium of neither realistic nor proactive state.  In this confusion, nine of the ten plans/efforts would fail to meet the target, deadline or quality.   As a result of this, most leaders throw their weights and run around with ‘reactive leadership qualities.  The reactive leadership qualities are like stitching above the stitch and blame some one for that.

Corporate always warn their employees to be very realistic and proactive. How one can be proactive and realistic simultaneously.  Proactive approach demand some element future and doubts on the future possibilities.  When the mind is filled with future and different assumptive possibilities likely to happen in future, how one can be realistic?  Realistic style strictly refers to a state of ‘no/less past’ and ‘no/less future’.   By admixing the different leadership qualities, the corporate and its employees formulate a concoction that would serve neither any aesthetic nor any numismatic or economic utility or value.

The entire bouquet of people in the corporate becomes ingredients of such concoction, often exhibits swim, swarm and Brownian movements in it. The different types of movement may show only some sign of life but will offer no progress or growth to the organization.  The emotional intelligence of ‘being responsive’ to a situation is only rarely seen among people in corporate.

If we look at the human life separately and exclusively by deleting the corporate interference, we may find that people are in general highly futuristic, less of realistic, least proactive and are very reactive.  Responsive type of emotional intelligence is almost obsolete in people’s life.

Can we connect or see any of these leadership qualities in animals.  Animal life is largely filled with realistic approach, they are very proactive, less of futuristic, in most occasions, animals are responsive than reactive.  Reactive style is seen only when an animal is cornered or threatened.  Further the reactive approach is seen in animals that are aged, sick, debilitated and are unable to find the food.

For example, when food is available, immediately the animals go and eat as fast as they can or may take the food to a safer place.  One can see the proactive leadership style from such actions of animals.  They may loose the food if they do not take it to the safer place.

When they see or smell or hear a danger, they respond well to the situation by moving away to a safer place than being in the same place to ‘react and experiment’ with the danger.  Animals also limit their choice and search and easily settle down with what is available than what can be searched out.  Animals are pretty realistic by their approach.  Are animal futuristic?  Certainly, animals have perfect understanding on their future needs and demands.  The animals show high level of preparedness to deal with the future requirements.   Well before breeding season, most birds start building nests.  Selection of the best mate during such season is another finest example on how futuristic animals are.

Finally when we tries to answer the question of are animals reactive, we may arrive at the fact that animals are indeed reactive but not like human beings. They are reactive only when they have to be reactive otherwise they never prefer to waste their energy by being reactive for anything and everything.

The time has come, the Homo sapiens have to peruse and introspect his/her own being as to how best he/she can learn to develop different leadership qualities from animal world.  This is true for corporate and its employees also.
