Finding quality employees was among the top answers when contractors were asked "What is the most difficult thing about owning a contracting business?"

A post in a popular Plumber Contractor group on Facebook led me to wondering what the skill trades will be like in the upcoming years.

The post read:

________ is the most difficult thing about owning a plumbing business.

Many of the responders answered employees or finding quality employees. We live in a day and age where more and more things are technology based and less "getting your hands dirty". With this being true,Where will skill trades such as Plumbing, HVAC, etc be in the next 10 years? Articles what do the skill trades do to find employees for their business they can rely on?

Among some of the other answers were issues revolving around administrative tasks, office work, bookkeeping and taxes. A lot of these answers were from contractors that were more hands on that knew more about the trade, and less about the business aspect.

Skilled trades are something that will more than likely be around for a very long time. They are essential to have and keep the world running and expanding. Different studies show the growth of these industries on the rise in the recent past years but the concern of the business owners seemed to be lack of quality people to perform the job duties.

My curiosity peaked not knowing if this indeed an issue that should be a concern or perhaps only difficult contractors that were answering to the posting?

Will skill trades be a mess in the upcoming years and harder for new startups? Or will current companies with the right processes and training blossom into giant contracting companies?

From the post in the group I assume only experience and time will tell or perhaps knowledgeable people that can create an outlet to help with this issue could be started and financially benefit.
