The HTC Desire has proven to be one of the most popular handsets to date for the manufacturer. It is easy to see the appeal of this Android operated Smartphone, with key features ranging from an advanced touch screen, 5 mega pixel digital camera and super fast Internet access.

The 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen utilises a pixel layout of 480x 800 pixels in order to display up to 16M colours, resulting in beautiful on screen imagery display making it perfect for viewing photos and video files.  An accelerometer sensor is provided for auto rotation of the screen dependent upon the orientation of the phone, allowing the onscreen content to be viewed in both portrait and landscape forms.  An additional method of navigating the HTC Sense UI is an optical trackpad which is thumb operated for easy navigation and menus.

Class 10 versions of both GPRS & EDGE provide the HTC Desire with its connections to cellular networks.  In areas covered by 3G, an HSDPA connection provides access to the Internet at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second, along with HSUPA at 2 MB per second.  Wi-Fi Technology is included as standard and this detects the signals provided by wireless Internet routers and utilises these to provide users with an enhanced browsing experience, making it possible to surf the web at broadband speeds.  Bluetooth and micro USB connections offer a means of connecting to compatible hardware devices such as other phones and computers allowing users to carry out a number of different tasks such as backing up contact information and transferring media files etc.

The HTC Desire is similar in dimensions to many other Smartphones, measuring 119x 60x 11.9mm, and weighs in at a pocket friendly 135 g.  Available in a sophisticated selection of colour variants, including black, brown and silver, the HTC Desire offers aesthetic appeal to style conscious users who also view their phone as a fashion statement.

The handset is provided with a 5 mega pixel camera.  This operates at a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 pixels resulting in high quality still images.  The task of taking great snapshots is the drastically simplified thanks to the inclusion of several image enhancing features such as Autofocus, smile detection and an LED flash.  Geo-tagging functions thanks to GPS, and automatically records the location at which a photo was taken.  As you may expect, the camera can also shoot video and this is in WVGA quality at a rate of 15 frames per second, offering an alternative method of image capture.

The HTC Desire offers appeal to a range of different users ranging from business users, social networkers and music fans.  It is this versatility which is made a popular handset and promises to make sure it remains that way for some time to come.
