Released in March 2010, the Samsung i9000 Galaxy S has proven to be a popular handset. Thanks to its appealing array of features, this versatile handset offers one of the most advanced touchscreens currently available.

It is however relatively slimline at just under 10 mm, and it is lightweight, at 118 grams. This makes it a pocket friendly handset which is a pleasure to hold and use on the move. 

One of the more impressive features of the Samsung Galaxy S is the 4 inch super AMOLED had capacitive touchscreen.  Boasting the ability to display up to 16M colours within a pixel layout of 480x 800, it offers superb quality display of the on screen imagery.  The screen also features an accelerometer sensor which automatically rotates the user interface dependent upon the orientation of the phone.  This means the screen can be viewed in both portrait and landscape forms making it ideal for viewing video files and photos.  Additional features of the screen include the TouchWiz 3.0 UI, touch sensitive controls, a proximity sensor and Swype text input.

The Samsung Galaxy S alerts users to incoming calls and text messages thanks to a combination of vibration and ringing.  MP3 and WAV music files can be assigned as ringtones offering users the chance to customise their phone.  Handsfree communication is made possible thanks to an integrated speakerphone system as well as a 3.5 mm audio Jack which can accommodate a handsfree headsets as well as earphones for listening to music.

A generous amount of internal storage is provided as standard with the Samsung Galaxy S.  Dependent upon the model, either 8 GB or 16 GB of internal storage is provided alongside a 512 MB RAM.  A micro SD card slot is also included which can accommodate a memory card of up to 32 GB allowing for potential to store huge amount of data.  The included phonebook can store a seemingly endless number of entries and fields and boasts the popular Photocall function.

If as you may expect from any Android Smartphone, the a number of different connectivity methods are utilised in order to provide users with optimum levels of connection to both cellular networks and the Internet dependent upon location and network coverage.  In order to connect to cellular networks, class 12 versions of both GPRS & EDGE are utilised.  Access to the Internet relies on 3G coverage whereby an HSDPA connection provides access the Internet at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second.  Wi-Fi Technology is included which allows a faster Internet connection when available.

An impressive 5 mega pixel digital camera is included which operates at a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 pixels.  This includes features such as Autofocus, touch focus and face & smile detection to simplify the task of taking great quality still images.  High definition video footage can also be shot using this camera in 720p quality at a rate of 30 frames per second.

The advanced levels of technology combined with aesthetic appeal of the Samsung Galaxy S means that this is a Smartphone which ticks all the boxes.
