Account setting challenges in Yahoo Mail

You will often face issues in sending or receiving emails in Yahoo if the IMAP settings aren’t correct.

Incoming Mail Server: Verify the “Incoming Mail Server” settings.  Server address should be imap.mail.yahoo.com and Port shall be 993 along with required SSL as a Yes.

Outgoing Mail Server: Set Outgoing Mail Server as smtp.mail.yahoo.com and port shall be configured as either 465 or 587. Say Yes to the required SSL as well to the Authentication.

If you want to configure your Yahoo account rather than the Outlook, it would be better if you try to get in touch with the email client support team or the app manufacturer.

Apart from this, you can also face other challenges like unable to regain the access if you haven’t updated any recovery options rather than security questions. Recently, when the massive security breach happened, Yahoo disabled the security questions as a recovery option. You need to update your mobile number and an existing email address in the account settings for recovery purpose. The best way would be to activate either the Yahoo Account Key or Turn on Two-Step Verification. If you haven’t done this and forget the answers to the security questions, then it would be impossible to regain the access.

If Yahoo finds too many unsuccessful sign-in attempts from the unknown locations, then Yahoo temporarily will block your account for security purpose. Although, Yahoo lifts this block after 12 hours, you can’t do anything to get into the account until the 12 hours pass.

Sometime you must have noticed that you just can’t change the password of your Yahoo account. If you have recently updated any recovery option then, it might be possible that you won’t be able to change the password. It is recommended that you wait for a few hours, sign-in again. Delete the cache, cookies and temporary files of the system and browser and try again it shall work perfectly fine.

If you can’t sign-in or Yahoo is working too slowly, make sure that the internet connection is fast enough and stable. In the case you are using any firewall or virtual private network, disable them and try again.
