The Struggle with Connectivity

Have you ever had one of those days when you felt like hurling your computer out the window and erasing all memories of ever owning it? Today was one such day for me,The Frustration of Technology: A Personal Account Articles and it seems these days are becoming more frequent.

The first issue of the day was an inability to connect to my internet service provider. I was greeted with a message stating that the computer I was dialing could not be found. This was puzzling, considering it was perfectly fine when I shut it down the previous night. After shutting down and restarting my computer, I finally managed to connect.

Website Woes

However, my relief was short-lived. None of my websites were functioning. It appeared that my web host was also experiencing issues. I attempted to send an email to my web host, but they weren't even receiving emails. The thought crossed my mind - what if they had gone under?

I had chosen to host all my sites with one web host to avail of better pricing. The downside to this was that if they encountered problems, all my sites would be down. This was a nightmare scenario. What if someone clicked on one of my ads and my site didn't load? What would they think of me? Would they ever click on one of my ads again?

The Anxiety of Uncertainty

The situation was becoming increasingly stressful. I had just launched my newest site the previous day, and now it wouldn't open. I tried contacting my web host again, but to no avail. With businesses closing their doors without any prior warning, I couldn't help but worry if the same had happened to me.

In an attempt to calm my nerves, I decided to write this article. However, with all these issues weighing on my mind, it was a challenge to focus.

The Light at the End of the Tunnel

Finally, at 8 pm, my sites were back up. I couldn't help but wonder how many sales I had missed. Despite the resolution, I still contemplated whether I should just get rid of this computer.

But then I thought, tomorrow has to be a better day. If not, I might just follow through with my threat to throw the computer out the window. But for now, I can't give up. I just have to keep telling myself, I can't give up.

Here is an article from Forbes that talks about the importance of patience in a frustrating tech world. And here is a BBC article discussing why technology is not always the answer.
