Applicants seriously drawn to natural healing professions will discover that New York Chiropractic College offers a variety of complementary medicine degree programs, including Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.), Master of Science in Applied Clinical Nutrition, Master of Science Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (M.S.A.O.M.), Master of Science in Diagnostic Imaging, and Bachelor of Professional Studies.

Students drawn to the practice of chiropractic can explore the art, philosophy, and science of chiropractic in New York College of Chiropractic's five-year clinical and laboratory course of study. Five years may sound like a big commitment but the professional payoffs within chiropractic are great. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, job prospects are expected to be good for persons who enter the practice of chiropractic; with salary potentials of over $100,000 annually.

When it comes to making a decision, advises Mike Lynch, NYCC's director of admissions  "be sure you've done enough research to feel confident you're going into the right career." Prerequisite courses are essential for entry into the D.C. program, including academic coursework in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Students must be prepared for NYCC's intensive doctor of chiropractic degree program, which entails comprehensive studies in anatomy, biochemistry, physiopathology, microbiology, diagnosis and diagnostic imaging, clinical laboratory, chiropractic philosophy and technique, ancillary therapeutic procedures, clinical practice, experience and outpatient services, elective courses, and other associated studies.

In addition to chiropractic studies, students can opt to enroll in NYCC's applied clinical nutrition program where successful candidates may earn a master of science degree.  In this two-year program, students will be introduced to and learn about macronutrients (carbohydrates, fats and proteins); vitamins, minerals and amino acids; pharmacognosy; nutritional assessment and developmental nutrition; food science, and other relative studies.

In addition to providing diverse professional training options, NYCC also offers students a scenic campus with modern amenities.  New York Chiropractic College is situated in Seneca Falls, NY, overlooking Cayuga Lake.  Boasting a 286-acre campus with amphitheater-type lecture halls, NYCC boasts numerous science laboratories and high-tech computer labs, a modern library, on-site professional clinic, athletic center, fitness and free-weight rooms, tennis courts, a golf course, softball and soccer fields, and on-campus living with family apartments and residence halls.

"We recommend candidates apply six months to a year in advance for enrollment," advises Lynch, inviting prospective NYCC students to schedule a school visit during one of two open houses in October and June. "When students come to visit, we try to hook them up with a student to attend class with, and allow them to stay the night in the dorm to get an actual feel for campus life."

New York Chiropractic College was granted an Absolute Charter by the New York State Board of Regents on behalf of the New York State Education Department of the University of the State of New York. Furthermore, NYCC is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, the Commission on Accreditation of the Council of Chiropractic Education and the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
