How to apply for IAS exams?

  • Citizen of India can apply for IAS exams.
  • Applicants need to submit individual information in IAS application form like- Name, Age, Address, Gender and Nationality, along with email ID and valid phone number.
  • Applicants must necessitate filling all the essential details of the educational qualifications in the form of application.
  • Applicants can pay the application fee online.
  • The minimum age of the applicant for applying in exams should be 21 years and the maximum age must be 32 years.
  • You can attempt IAS exams only 6 times in your lifetime.
  • The modes of payment could be any of these payments mode- credit card, debit card or net banking.

After completing the application procedure of IAS & UPSC examination, wait for your admit card which is issued online, also you can download or check it on UPSC official website.

IAS Exam Pattern

To clear IAS Exams, you must require a graduation degree from a well-known university. There are three stages to clear Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Exams.

  1. IAS Preliminary examination
  2. IAS Main examination
  3. Personal Interview

The first stage (IAS Prelims) contains the multiple-choice questions (MCQ’s) and objective types questions. This exam is conducted for the applicants screening test. There will be negative marking for each incorrect answer. In the first stage, there are 2 types of paper and each paper time duration of 2 hours. Both sets of paper contain 200 marks of each. After qualifying the first exam applicants are ready for the Main Examination.

The second stage (IAS Mains) which is a written exam and contains all the main 9 subjects. The time duration given to the candidates for the main exam will be 3 hours for each subject.

After qualifying both stages IAS Prelims & IAS Mains, candidates are qualified to the third stage for personality test or personal interview. According to the last stage of their interview candidates will be selected for the IAS and other services posts.
