Miss Universe 2012

 Olivia Culpo, Miss USA, won the award of Miss Universe earlier this week; she broke America's fifteen years dropping strip in the competition. Olivia was brought up in Rhode Island with two musician parents, a desire that she developed playing the cello in quite a lot of remarkable symphonies. She is a breath of fresh air and has straight-forward decency about her. On 19th Dec. 2012,(Wednesday) 20 years old Miss USA participant and former Miss Rhode Island, she won the Miss Universe 2012 show at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino situated in Las Vegas, USA. She is the delighted gorgeous queen, who is the leading American to win since 1997. 89 stunning girls had participated to win the title of Miss Universe 2012; it also included an Indian contestant named Shilpa Singh. Olivia took the place of previous year’s winner, Liela Lopes, who was the first Miss Universe from Angola. Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes of Angola crowned her successor at the event. She was the last woman standing in a column of 89 women representing their countries all over the world. She replaced Mexico's Ximena Navarette who was honoured by the crown of Miss Universe 2010, who beat the other 4 finalists from Philippines, Brazil, China, and Ukraine. The United States has the maximum number of Miss Universe wins since the competition began in 1952.India’s contribution to the world beauty contests has not been insignificant. It had produced some splendour, who earned crowns, honours and gratitude for their country at international platforms like Miss Universe. As the pageant begins later this month, have a look at our country’s brilliant contribution. It was 1994, a glorious year for India, when Sushmita Sen stood first at show and became the first to win this title for India. In the Year 2000, Lara Dutta completely impressed the judges in the interview round and scored the maximum 9.99 marks. Madhu Sapre was the second runner up for the title in the year 1992. Bollywood actress Namrata Shirodkar made it to the list of top 10 finalists. Celina Jaitley also won Miss India crown in the year 2001 and made it the top five in this contest. It is an annual international beauty contest. This contest was first held in Long Beach, California in 1952. Until 1958 the Miss Universe title was post-dated, so at the time Ms. Kuusela's title was Miss Universe 1953. Shilpa Singh an India’s official contestant for this contest of 2012 had participated and entered the top 16 list. India's 12-year-long dry run at this contest continued with her but unfortunately she lost out in the finals. She is 23 year old gorgeous girl from Bihar a  computer Science graduate and currently an employee of Infosys Technologies. But she wasn't India's original challenger as Uttarakhand's Urvashi Rautela she was the original victor of the "I Am She" title, had to pull out because she was found to have been 25 days below the minimum age limit of 18 years.The board of 10 judges includes Pablo Sandoval of the World Series champion Giants, singer Cee Lo Green, US Olympic beach volleyball gold medallist Kerri Walsh Jennings and "Iron Chef" star Masaharu Morimoto had finalized Olivia Culpo as the winner.
