We’re on the month when clock move back one hour,Making a Green Sense with bright light bulbs Articles as earlier hour for nightfall, the lights come on earlier and run longer, too. It would be great to save some money and electricity on all that lighting?
There are LED bulbs that are bright, longer lasting, low-energy lighting while using less electricity than incandescent or compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL).
The average household has approximately 30 to 50 light fixtures! And in the US, nearly 70 percent of light bulbs in those fixtures contain inefficient bulbs so that lighting in an average home can use more energy than your laundry equipment, refrigerator and dishwasher.
In 2012 the U.S. Energy Information Administration release that the latest numbers that residential lighting consumed about 14% of all residential electricity consumption or 186 billion kWh. ENERGY STAR notes that we would save enough energy to light 2 million homes for the whole year if every household replaced just one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR qualified bulb.
Thanks to advance technology in the new LED bulbs. The LED is the lowest in wattage and annual kWh when compared to a CFL and an incandescent of the same brightness (lumens).
An 11 watt LED would use 21 kWh per year, a 22 watt CFL would use 42 kWh per year, a 75 watt incandescent would use 142 kWh. Based on an 1100 lumen bulb use about 1890 hours per year
As far saving energy, LED bulbs can save money over time because of the longevity. LED bulb can last for 20 years. CFLs can last up to 10 years, while you would need 25 incandescent bulbs to light your way through 20 years.
These are anywhere from 25,000 to 50,000 hours. If you are using CFLs you may be accustomed to waiting for the lights to come to full brightness. With LED they are instantly on. LEDs are durable, not sensitive to weather, no hazardous material, aren’t affected by frequent cycling on/off, have the lowest heat output, and are available in dimmable versions.
As technology advance, the diodes are group to provide more light, and mounted within diffuser lenses, which spread the light across a wider area. Innovations in manufacturing technology have driven the prices down to a level where LED bulbs are more cost-effective than CFLs or incandescent bulbs. This trend is continuing, with LED bulbs being designed for more applications while the prices are going down.
Christmas Holiday is also around the corner and you may try to consider Led Christmas lighting to save more while you lit them up as sunset start.
As soon your incandescent bulbs burns out, switch to LEDs lighting and you will have a noticeable reduction in your energy bill. If you are using CFLs, you will still save in energy cost as well as the cost effective longevity of the bulb.
Make a habit and teach the kids to turn off light when it’s not in use. Put outside lighting on timers so they don’t run all night and shut off during the day. All lighting still needs efficient use.
Lights are like a grapes, and easily to grab. Change our lights with LEDs it adds up to millions of kilowatt hours saved.
