Gynecomastia or enlarged breasts in males may take place in any age group of males and takes place either due to declined amount of male hormone testosterone or increased amount of estrogen,Man Boobs How To Lose Them Articles the hormone which gives rise to feminine characters. Baby boys, teenager boys as well as adult men have similar risk to suffer from this disorder. Commonly it is also termed as moobs.
In baby boys, gynecomastia occurs because of the estrogen that transferred in their body by their moms. Most of the times the disorder doesn’t sustain for more than 6 months of age but occasionally it can sustain.
Gynacomastia is quite widespread in boys at pubertal age. It may last for a couple of years but most of the times it is cured in the first year itself.
It has been sometimes observed that due to the application of lavender and tea tree oil which are added to baby products such as shampoo, soap, oils, etc. gynacomastia arises in preteen age group of boys. Though the rationale behind this is not clearly identified, one theory about it is body mistakes these two products i.e. lavender and tea tree oil as the estrogen, the female hormone and starts increasing the breast tissue.
At times a tumor which produces estrogen also results in gynecomastia.
In teenager boys changes in hormonal levels is the predominant underlying cause of gynecomastia. 60 percent of the affected boys are from early pubertal age to middle pubertal age. 70 percent of the sufferers get rid of the condition in one year whereas ninety percent within a couple of years.
In older males causative factor of gynecomastia can be entirely irrelevant e.g. liver cirrhosis, hyperactive thyroid or carcinogenic lung or liver. Infrequently it may be due to imbalance in hormonal levels too, taken place by cancer in any of the glands. Alcohol and drugs like marijuana and heroin and medicineslikemethamphetamine can also be the underlying causes of gynecomastia.
Cerntain medicinal drug too may give rise to gynecomastia. They include steroids, ulcer medications, epilepsy medicine, heart medicines, chemotherapy medicines, antiandrogens, and antidepressants.
Yet another underlying cause is increased weight or obesity. However actually this is not precisely gynecomastia, but it is called pseudo or false gynecomastia. Due to the increased weight, the fat tissue amasses near breasts same way as it does in rest of body parts and it looks like enlarged breasts.
Gynecomastia can be utterly depressing because of the ridicule it earns. Sometimes the patient looks down upon himself because of the increased breasts. One outward way out for this is to don male bra which veils the breast size. In addition to this putting on loose-fitting clothing can make the developed mammary glands less apparent. This way the sufferer can at least have a normal social life.
The treatment of gynecomastia differs according to its underlying cause. Most of the sufferers find their disease going in the course of time. Especially in babies and teens, it is most probable to be cured. However occasionally when it prolongs it requires careful examination. Sometimes the sufferer may be affected by breast cancer. There is a high chance for this when any of the close women kins is or was a patient. So detection is very much important.
When gynecomastia is caused owing to any medication, staying away from the drug is the solution. If it occurs due to hormonal changes, hormonal treatment has to be taken.
If the man is affected by psuedogynecomastia, reducing excessive weight by way of ideal diet and ample physical exercise relieves the disorder.
