According to a recent study,The New Study Reveals the Gonorrhea Outbreak in 2015-Signs & Symptoms to Be Paid Attention to Articles gonorrhea occurs on a rising tendency in 2015 especially in Southern California. Dr. Karen Smith, health officer at the Department of Public Health, is particularly concerned about why this infection is becoming so rampant nowadays.

As we all know, gonorrhea is a contagious disease transmitted most often through sexual contact with an infected person. Gonorrhea may also be spread by contact with infected bodily fluids, so that a mother could pass on the infection to her newborn baby. Gonorrhea can affect both men and women. The infection is easily spread and occurs most often in people who have many sex partners. Besides, it can usually affect the tube of the urinary bladder where urine is excreted (urethra), as well as the eyes, throat, vagina, rectum and reproductive tract of women.

Eric Gordon, a nurse in pubic health, shared that an estimate of five cases of syphilis or gonorrhea is being discovered in a year. The symptoms can be from mild to severity, such as painless ulceration on the genitals to the development of rashes on the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet.

Penicillin injection is usually the first option when comes to the treatment. However, as we all know, penicillin is a kind of antibiotics and generally all of antibiotics will cause side effects and drug resistance. That means it may relieve the symptoms in certain time but may occur recurrently if patients stop taking it. Thus, herbal medicine like Fuyan Pill for women and Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill for men maybe a better option compared with penicillin injection, because it is made from Chinese herbs without any side effects and drug resistance.

Except for syphilis or gonorrhea, Chlamydia is another STD that occurs on rapid rise. Gonorrhea and chlamydia symptoms are almost similar to that of syphilis. The typical symptoms include discharge from the urethra, burning sensation or pain while urinating and abdomen pain.

There are several tests available now to check if an individual is positive with gonorrhea. A sample of the penal or vaginal discharge is usually taken to diagnose the infection, and then stain is added to have it checked under a microscope. It is probably gonorrhea if the smear reacts to the stain.

If left untreated for gonorrhea, long-term complications may be developed and experienced, especially among women. The infection can develop scarring in the fallopian tubes and cause infertility problem accordingly. For men, urethra scars or abscess in the penis may develop over time, causing the infection to spread in the blood and could lead to arthritis, heart damage or inflammation of the brain or spine.

To prevent gonorrhea, it’s suggested to avoid too many sexual partners and try sex abstinence for individuals. Prevention is the best defense against this disease.
