The common face lift remains one of the most popular and widely sought-after forms of cosmetic surgery in the world,There Is a Face Lift for Everyone Articles but many potential patients are not aware of the fact that there is more than one type of the procedure available.

A rhytidectomy, typically known as a face lift, is arguably the most popular form of plastic surgery for older patients who are hoping to combat the onset of wrinkles in their facial features. Yet nowadays, variations of the procedure are available to assist those who may not need their entire profiles altered.

The common face lift involves making an incision from in front of the ear around the neck to the rear hairline. From there the plastic surgeon cuts away the outer skin from the underlying deep tissue, stretches the deep tissue and secures it in a tighter position using sutures and then cuts away the extra exterior skin before reattaching it. The result is smoother, tighter skin from forehead to neck that helps leave the patient feeling and looking younger.

However there are many patients who don’t need their entire faces tightened or wrinkles across numerous areas removed. For these individuals, cosmetic surgeries continue to become more specialized and focused on certain areas than ever before.

For some people, wrinkles begin to set in most predominantly around the forehead area. For a patient that fits this description, there are variations of the procedure that focus solely on tightening the skin and tissues around this area while still keeping the incision and resulting scars in the same discreet location as the most common form of the procedure.

For others, the forehead area may remain unaffected by even a single wrinkle while the cheeks have begun to sag and crow’s feet set in near the eyes. Much like with the treatment focused on the forehead, there is also a face lift capable of focusing on the cheek areas that uses the same discreet location for the incision but is able to concentrate solely on treating the skin in these specific areas.

The neck is also a common area for wrinkles to not only be present, but for individuals to want them removed from. The neck is one of the easier areas for this type of cosmetic surgery to focus on discreetly and effectively, oftentimes without an incision being required in the facial area.

Mini-lifts of various types are also available for concentrated, specific areas that are under the onslaught of wrinkles. This may include the eyes, nose, mouth or other regions, and both available options and a plan of action for treating these areas can be discussed with and laid out by a doctor. In many cases, cosmetic surgeons can produce specialized options determined by each patient’s individual needs.

A face lift, like any other form of cosmetic surgery, is an involved medical procedure with a number of variables involved, all of which should be discussed with a doctor before consenting to a procedure. Such a meeting is also the time when the many the available options and their potential results can be discussed so the individual can decide whether the surgery is right for him or her.
