Remember when you were young and knew something that your brother or sister really wanted to know. Perhaps it was help with homework,How To Be An Infopreneur Articles or something you knew about one of their friends. They kept trying to get you to tell them. Finally you told them that you would tell them if they gave you a candy bar. You got the candy bar and they got the information that you knew. At that point you became an infopreneur.

An infopreneur is someone that sells information. The information can be in the form of a book, article, ebook, software, CD, or video. There is no limit on the type of information you could be selling. It could be grandma's favorite Thanksgiving cranberry bread recipe. It could be a story. It could be information to help someone to be successful in business, or to save time, or to have a better life. Your resourcefulness and imagination are your limitations.

Of course, you can be an infopreneur on line or off line. Lets limit ourselves in this discussion to selling information online. In doing so we will limit the information format to something that can be delivered electronically, such as software, ebooks, video files, and audio files.

There are four main sources that you can use to get information products to sell online.

You can create your own product. Probably the easiest to do is to write an ebook. You can do this on a word processor then generate it using a PDF generator. This will allow people to read it with a free adobe acrobat reader. There are several good free or low cost PDF generators available. If you are a programmer you can write a software program.

The advantage of creating your own product is that it is yours. You own it and control it. You can continue to make money with it for a long time. You can later modify it and sell upgrades to your original customers. The disadvantage is that it takes time to create the product. A software program can take an especially long time to create and test.

The second method is related to the first. It is to find someone that has already created a product, but is not marketing it. Perhaps they don't have time or don't know how to market it. In this situation you could work out a joint venture with them where you receive rights to market the products and give them royalties. These deals are not always easy to find, however when you do find one it can be very rewarding.

The third method is to become an affiliate. There are thousands of affiliate programs on the Internet. There are several thousand available through the ClickBank marketplace. If you use any start page exchanges you will soon find many others. The trick is to choose a good program. Commission rates can very from 10% to 75%. The products can vary from mediocre to excellent.

The advantage of an affiliate program is that you can be up and running with it in just a few minutes. Most give you a site to promote. Many give you banners and pre-written ads to help you.

Most affiliate programs are free to join, so you are getting a product to sell at no cost.

The fourth way to obtain information products to sell is to buy resell rights to a product. This could be costly. It can also be very profitable.

Often when you buy resell rights you are given the code for a sales page for the product. If you already have a domain you can park this new site there, otherwise you can use one of the many free hosting services. You are at liberty to change the sales web site in any way you want. You can make it look different from the web sites of all the other people that bought resell rights. Make it unique and add your personality to it.

One disadvantage of selling a product that you bought resell rights to is that many other people may have also bought resell rights. You would be competing with these people. This is why you want to be unique and different from everyone else.

When you buy a product with resell rights or master resell rights you get to keep all the money when you sell it. You can almost treat it like a product that you created.

If you have resell rights you can sell the product, but the person that buys it from you does not have the right to sell it. If you have master resell rights then your customer can also sell the product.

There are several advantages that digital information products have over non-digital products.

You do not have to have any inventory with a product that can be delivered by downloading it from a website. People selling physical items must stock the item or arrange to have it dropped shipped, both of which can be costly. Download pages are fairly easy to setup and can be done with little or no cost.

You can deliver your digital product instantly once you have verified receipt of payment. No need to make your customer wait days waiting for a package to arrive.

With digital products your customers can be anywhere in the world. You don't care where they are since they are going to download it.

With most digital products you have a very high profit margin or markup. When I used to own a bookstore my profit margin was usually a low forty percent. I had to pay for every book I sold. >p>With a digital product you don't pay for every copy you sell. You pay once for the product, either creation expenses or acquisition expense. You don't keep paying every time you sell a copy. So every time you sell a copy your cost per copy decreases and your profit margin increases.

You will want a web sit to sell your digital information product.

Now you know how to get digital information products and the advantages to selling them. The main thing left to do is to create a way of selling them.

To sell them you will want a website. You can start out with a free website or go first class and get a domain name and create a web site for it. The advantage of having your own domain is that you look more professional and people will trust you more.

There are web site templates available on the Internet. Many of these are free. If you don't know how to program then start with one of these templates and modify it for your sales copy. Many of them are easy to modify even if you don't know HTML. If you are selling a product with resell rights you probably can use the sales page that came with it.

Selling digital information products on the Internet is one of the quickest, easiest, and most cost efficient ways to start an Internet business. You can be a very successful infopreneur with it. Once you have done it one time you can do it over and over, learning and becoming an even more successful infopreneur each time.
