Nobody wants to be fat, poor and depression.

mediaimage

There is an old saying in ancient Indian literature. It goes this way,Nobody wants to be fat, poor and depressed. Articles ‘Its great to be born a human being on this earth… but it is even great if you are not born deaf, dumb, and blind or handicapped.’ A thousand year old saying holds only to that era since lots have changed now. People’s perspective about disability has vanished, or should I say changed? Yes. It’s a fact. We have learned to understand the pain and suffering of the disabled and hence brought about a lot of change in the social system and thus the way they are looked upon is completely different now. But the place held by disabled for all these years has now been given to the fat and the poor with depression.

It may sound too exaggerating, but some truths always seem so.

It’s these ‘ty’s that are looked down upon now - Poverty and Obesity. The two extremes as it may seem, but very close in the chart of disliked. They are extremes as the poor cannot be fat (apart from any medical illness) and the fat cannot have been poor (I use past tense as u can’t predict his future). Now how they are similar in the ‘disliked’ or ‘I don’t want to be’ charts…

Well, for one thing, we don’t like to hangout with either of them (unless for publicity, where the fat one is a famous personality or you try to be famous by ‘helping’ the poor). Both the categories have non profitable groups working hard to bring them out of their ‘situation’. Unless a situation is bad there won’t be people working to bring you out, hence it’s a place where people don’t want to be.

Even the huge organizations like World health organization are taking measures to save the generation next, the kids. What are they saving them from? They save the poor mal-nutritional kids from Africa and India (the developing nations) & the obese kids from China and US (the developed countries)!! Isn’t this proof enough to say that ‘Nobody wants to be fat and poor and depression?’

But what we have to understand from this is, it is not just their fault. We humans have today consumed 90% of the world’s resources making a lot of species go extinct! But on the other hand we did not take up the responsibility of sharing the resources and keeping a balance between our socio economic cycles. The poor need not be looked down because we are the ones who made them end up there, if they had a fair chance to fight may be we wouldn’t be as rich as now. And fat have to be looked down upon not because of their appearance but what they portray, single handedly suck in all the calories (which you only get by paying a lot of money) hence moderation is the key, be it food or money. Nobody wants to be fat and poor and depression, so let’s try and make that extinct.
