When it comes to ironing your clothes you probably grew up on a more primitive device,How do Steam Irons Work Articles which is known as a regular iron. You probably saw your mother rubbing the hot iron over your clothes on the ironing board. The end product was a smooth piece of fabric without a wrinkle to be found. This method of ironing has been around for just about 120 years. I think with the technology we have to do and the advances we have made that it might be time for some people to move into the 21st century and get a steam iron.
A wrinkle is actually quite a scientific problem. You actually have bonds forming in the fabric, which create the winkles that we see. A long time ago someone figured out that running a hot piece of metal over the fabric would break the bonds. The fact is that hot metal over fabric will burn it. It's not hard to see. If you leave the iron on your clothes for a few seconds too long you'll have black burns. When you do ironing you might not see any physical burning, but it is occurring and destroying the life of your clothes.
A steam iron is a much better approach because we're talking about how water in vapor form. It isn't going to burn anything like a hot piece of metal will. The steam actually penetrates deep into the fabric where it can break the bonds that cause wrinkles. At this point the vapor evaporates and then you're done.
