We all know that the surest way to generate meaningful income in the Internet marketing business is to build a good opt-in list. What many of us do not know is just how to go about doing that. You have probably read countless articles,3 Ways To Build A Profitable Opt In List Articles and perhaps even sought expert advice, in hopes of creating the many success stories your have come across about people creating a small fortune with their opt-in lists.

The greatest frustration is that after all of your research, knowing everything there is to know about opt-in lists, and have followed the advice and wisdom of the experts, you still are not able to make a profit.  You may have developed a large opt-in list, but only a very small percentage of your subscribers actually buy from you.

So what could have gone wrong? Why have others succeeded where you have failed?  The most common mistake being made in this area is diving straight into list building without the requisite planning or thought. You may have selected a topic that you thought would be quite popular and that would earn money for you. This simply is not the case, however. Just because someone subscribes to your list and you send them an offer, does not mean they will instantly buy from you.

Whether you are just starting or trying to salvage a failing venture, here are three quick and easy ways you can build a profitable opt-in list.

BUILD TRUST AND CONFIDENCE WITH YOUR OPT-IN SUBSCRIBERS

Get your customers to trust you and your products, before you ask them to buy from you. Just launching your opt-in list does not make you an expert in the field or a reputable vendor. Establish your credibility by publishing numerous articles before you start marketing products through your opt-in list. Write about the topics you personally know about and that you have incorporated into your own website or online business.

Consider hosting forums for your subscribers, where they can post questions and receive advice from you and other members.  Join forums from other sites as well. Provide expert advice and recommendations.  Build your audience's confidence in you and when you feel that they trust you, then you can consider asking your opt-in list to invest their trust by making a purchase from you.

Your participation in forums will also help you build a base of loyal subscribers.  Suggest that those who receive useful advice from you subscribe to your newsletter.  If permitted in the forum, place a link to your site in your signature line so that the other forum members might easily find your site and subscribe to your list.

The money will only come in when the consumers and subscribers believe and trust in you. People will not buy something based upon the recommendation of someone they if not know.

KNOW YOUR PRODUCT BEFORE MARKETING TO YOUR OPT-IN LIST

Find products and services that people presently want and need. Although it may not be your forte, if you provide a service and product that you have carefully researched and learned about, you can make your recommendation in good conscience and with authority. Invest your time, effort and money so that you can effectively and honestly promote the product to your subscribers.

An additional benefit of doing this job well is that your subscribers will refer their friends.  Be sure you provide them with an opportunity to make those referrals.  In fact, encourage them!

LEARN FROM OTHER OPT-IN LIST OWNERS

Make friends with other opt-in list owners. This can be very beneficial when you are working with others who have already built successful opt-in lists. These are people that have the credibility and experience, which they can then transfer to you through their endorsement and recommendation.

Experienced opt-in list owners will also be able to teach you what to do with your list and what not to do with it.  They have made mistakes and, hopefully, learned from them.  If an experienced list owner is willing to share their wisdom, make sure you take the time to listen.

Building a profitable opt-in list does not happen overnight and there is no easy way to do the job properly.  However, if you do your homework and invest the time and effort, you will be rewarded for the effort.
