Find out all you need to know about laptop covers.

There are many types of laptop covers,Laptop Covers 101 Articles all with different purposes.  Here you will gain the information you need to make informed decisions on laptop covers for both carrying your laptop and for style.

Neoprene covers

These are the covers you will need to wrap your laptop in for safety during transportation.  The inside is make of a soft material so as not to damage or scratch the exterior of the laptop.  These covers, however, are slip-on and slip-off, and can do nothing to prevent scratches to the laptop while it's outside the cover.  They are great for packing your laptop in with other things, but not great for a home or work environment where your laptop will not be moved very often.  These usually range in price from around $10 to around $40.

Laptop Skins

These covers are almost entirely for style, but they do offer some protection against damage to the surface of your laptop.  In a normal scenario when something would scratch the laptop's surface, it will commonly only take off part of the skin.  This essentially amounts to a layer of protection for your laptop and, at prices ranging from $12.99 to $25 commonly, this is one of your most affordable laptop protection options.

These skins, however, do not wrap all the way around the laptop.  Skins for laptops generally only go on the back of the laptop's monitor.  That's because these skins are meant for style and there is no part of your laptop that someone will usually see more commonly than the back of your monitor.

Because of that, it also makes these skins very easy to create and to take on and off.  There are millions of laptop skins already ranging all topics and tastes, but it's especially easy to find someone that can create one for you at a low price.  For the piece of mind and for the style that the skins will give you, it's a price that you cannot afford to pass on.  Whether you go for a Godfather skin or a Hello Kitty skin, you can rest a little easier knowing that the skin itself provides some protection to your laptop, and that's really the big investment.
