Craig Brewer’s Coming 2 America upcoming comedy movie is the second installment of the ‘Coming to America’ movie series. Snipes will appear in the role of Imani’s older brother, General Izzi, alongside Eddie Murphy as the prince of Zamunda, Prince Akeem Joffer, and  Arsenio Hall as Semmi, Akeem’s best friend and aide. Morgan Freeman, Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, KiKi Layne, Shari Headley, John Amos, and Teyana Taylor will be in the support role.

The movie’s plot will continue the first movie when the former Prince Akeem is set to become the king of Zamunda. He realizes that he has a son named Lavelle (Jermaine Fowler) in America. And the story then starts to build from there.

The first movie of the franchise, Coming to America, is a romantic comedy that was released around three decades ago on 9 June 1988. John Landis directed the movie. After a very long gap, the sequel of the film is all set to stream on Amazon Prime Video on 5 March 2021. Coming 2 America was initially scheduled to release on 18 December 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the release date was postponed. The original movie was a major hit, and actor Murphy received much appreciation for playing various characters in one movie plot. When the movie was released, Murphy was already a big name. He was popular for his roles in the comedy show Saturday Night Live. The actor also received many nominations for the Golden Globe Awards for his performance in the movies Trading Places, Dolemite Is My Name, 48 Hrs.,  Beverly Hills Cop series (1983–present), and The Nutty Professor.

While chatting with EW, Snipes shared his audition experience for the first part of the movie Coming to America. He revealed he also auditioned for one of the characters in the movie but could not get through the audition. Snipes said he got three callbacks from the team, but none of them were to audition for Eddie Murphy. Later, Eriq La Salle got the role and his dream to work with the legendary comedian Murphy remained unfulfilled until now. The actor is very grateful that he got the opportunity to play General Izzi’s character in the upcoming movie Coming 2 America.

Wesley Snipes feels extremely honored and thankful to work with the great comedian. He said he doesn’t know if it was toe to toe, but he would rather characterize it more like riding along, and in some cases hanging on. The actor admires Murphy and said he wishes he and the other people have the nerve to say all the stuff Murphy expresses without hesitation.

Snipes might regret that he could not appear in the first film of Coming to America; instead, fans got to watch him in the 1989 film Major League. From that movie, the actor started to gain acknowledgment and continue to grow. However, at last, the actor got a chance to appear with his favorite star. The audience would soon watch the movie as a video on demand on Prime.
