I'm not vain. However, I know I'm pretty. Men do double takes of me all the time. They go out of their way to open doors for me and help me. What am I wearing during these instant attractions? Something men don't wear. It might be something very simple like kaki shorts with a satin blouse, a pretty matching satin bow in my hair, and casual ballerina style flats on my feet. The point is, when I walk into a room, everyone usually stops and stares because my aura is ALL female. And that is very sexy. It's that simple.

It seems everywhere I look I see women wearing blue jeans and trousers. In the business community women even wear suits and ties. You can't go to high class restaurants without seeing women waitresses in the same outfit as the men. A white shirt,Hey Girls - Let's All Look Like Guys! Articles black pants, and tie. On the Internet, I think I've found more males wearing panty hose and slinky dresses than females.

Why Do Women Insist On Dressing Like Men?

Perhaps they want to be like them.

Over the last thirty to fifty years it seems the fashion industry, along with other influential trend-setters, has influenced women into looking and being more like men. From the power executive corporate positions, to wearing suit with ties and knee-bearing torn blue jeans. They have the rugged-looking military trousers, tee-shirts with harsh words printed on the back and front, boots, even manly hair cuts and styles. They say it's more comfortable. More comfortable? What ever happened to slipping into something really more comfortable? You know, something soft, smooth, and slippery. Something that men don't wear. I can find many garments that are "everyday practical," and every bit as rugged and comfortable, that still maintain femininity. Garments that maintain a dichotomy between male and female.

Myth Number One

Allow me to let you in on a little secret ladies. Men are looking for, and are much more attracted to, women in feminine attire. I'm not referring to trashy-looking sex outfits. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against that and there is a time and place for everything. I'm talking about feminine wear that looks sexy without trying to look sexy. It's a myth that you must look trashy and sexy at the same time. It's also a myth that you cannot look sexy and maintain class and modesty at the same time. Many men think that women look sexy in the tastful clothing worn in church. Of course, that's when women aren't dressed like they picked something out of Willy Nelson's closet.

Let Me Share a Story

I'm not vain. However, I know I'm pretty. Men do double takes of me all the time. They go out of their way to open doors for me and help me. What am I wearing during these instant attractions? Something men don't wear. It might be something very simple like kaki shorts with a satin blouse, a pretty matching satin bow in my hair, and casual ballerina style flats on my feet. The point is, when I walk into a room, everyone usually stops and stares because my aura is ALL female. And that is very sexy. It's that simple.

When Will It End?

After all, we are different from men, aren't we? As much as many women want to think different, the fact is, we are different. We are special. It seems we spend so much time trying to be like, and convincing the world we're just as good as men, we forget the exclusive priveledges of being a woman. In fact, scientific studies have shown women to demonstrate greater strengths than men in many different areas. For one thing, women multi-task better than men. Men can't carry life for nine months in a womb, men can't breast feed, men's breasts don't shake sexily like jello under a silky top when walking down a hallway, and men can't dress in the feminine things that make women look unique and special. Well, I guess they can dress like women but they have a lot more difficult time doing it with class and elegance. In fact, they can't seriously pull it off without looking very peculiar. Some do it in private to fulfill a sexual urge, but that's a different subject.

A Disturbing Comparison

I made a trip to my local library recently and compared Glamour and Cosmopolitan magazines of the 1960's with recent issues.

Wow! What A Difference.

The older issues actually had real lingerie ads. These full page ads featured lovely ladies posing in beautiful nightgowns and peignoirs. The lingerie was made with exceptional quality unparalleled to today's lingerie. Even the most expensive, designer lingerie.  The lingerie I discovered of yester-year was very special evening wear. Most featured layered floats of sheer nylon tricot, draped over opaque silky nylon. The nylon fabrics were of much better quality than today also. Even to the point of surpassing the quality and feel of satin, and silk. Completely appropriate to wear in front of the family, but yet sexy. These festive gowns were fun to wear. Not just something to put on to excite your mate, just to get torn off quickly. These gowns would not only excite men, but were something enjoyable for a woman to wear. These floaty gowns made you feel feminine and pretty. Special. They had unique detail, as well. Like small detailed satin roses on the lapels or shoulder straps. Even the ad copy and descriptions of these special nightgowns were sexy.

Back To The Fashion Future

Back in the 1940's and 1950's you could open up a fashion magazine and find pretty clothing for women.  Even older television shows and movies featured women wearing feminine apparel and evening wear.  Now, if a movie or television show tries to depict the 1950s atmosphere, they have to shop at novelty stores to duplicate the quality feminine wear.  Even the most expensive of glamor wear that movie stars show off at Emmy awards reflect a certain cheapness about it.  It seems as though they try to get it is tight and close to the skin as possible perhaps to make the body look like a mermaid.

You may say recent magazines feature full page lingerie ads. This is true. However, every ad I see is for cotton tee--shirts and panties, or something too skimpy to wear in front of the family. They lead you to believe it's comfortable. But you never hear a woman say, "Allow me slip into something more comfortable."

In order to slip into something of similar quality, detail, elegance, and the high degree of softness against the skin, you have to make a trip to a resale shop, garage sale, or vintage wear shop on the Internet. Vintage clothing is becomming very poplular these days. Even Victoria's Secret, with as much quality as they offer, doesn't have the selection of lingerie I've been describing. As vintage lingerie becomes more popular, it will probably make the major lingerie companies take notice and reproduce them. Thank goodness I still can purchase feminine pajamas and matching robes made of quality nylon tricot through Vanity Fair.

Even the most expensive department stores in New York are devoid of quality lingerie.  You can certainly find gowns and robes made of satin and lace.  But to find quality peignoirs like that of the fifties and sixties is impossible to find. I have managed to find some in resale shops and novelty stores.  When I did research on the companies that made them and contacted them to see if they have any available, I was always told that they were discontinued.  However the spokesman always said they were wonderful gowns for a special time in history that has since passed.  It was the era of Camelot. Perhaps it has been the women's movement that has changed things.  However even though women have more power today, I believe they still want to be feminine and attractive.  However, women either have the choice of buying extreme trashy sheer growns, or the extreme opposite.  For every day wear it's impossible to not find women in blue jeans and shoes they got from their boyfriends' closets.  In fact, when I go to the mall and look at crowds from the waist down I can't tell male from female.  This is a shame.  I, myself, like to look, feel, and be feminine.  I'm just as strong willed as any other women wearing blue jeans. However, I like to wear high heels, nylons, make up, and quality nightgowns.

I feel that women are really missing out on what they could have.  There's nothing quite like taking a nice warm bubble bath with candles, lotioning down your skin, and slipping into a nightgown with layers of sheer floating over opaque nylon.  This, topped off with a pretty pair of slippers is such a treat.  Even soft, pretty, nylon pajamas with a matching robe feel wonderful against the skin. It seems that all your cares drift away as you slip into this attire.  In fact, it makes me feel like twirling around, or dancing like a ballerina as I glance at myself in the mirror.  And every filmy swirl is festive.  I think that in the near future these kinds of evening wear and lingerie are going to make a return.  However until then, one has to shop at specialty places on the Internet to find these special gowns.  I specialize in finding these gowns and presenting them to the public so they may experience what many are missing.  Once people see how lovely these gowns are, they want to snatch them up from me.  I usually don't want to let them go because they are so lovely.
