One must understand that people lie for many reasons. Many of which will be gone into details over the next few list of articles. For a brief overview, people lie for some of these reasons:
1. Protection Against Pain This is the main cause of lies. People lie to avoid current pain. However, the pain from lying will be compounded if the liar is found out in future.
2. Emotions Once again, closely related towards protection of being in pain, to put it bluntly, people lie emotionally. We lie because of emotions acting against us to cause us to lie. We lie for the fear of embarrassment, for the emotion of greed or for the emotion of sadness. We lie emotionally.
3. It is Easy It is easy to lie. It is easy to escape the next 3 hours of truth with just a small investment of coming up with a lie in 10 seconds.
4. The Odds are in Their Favor The odds are stacked towards the liars favor when they lie. People lie only and only if the odds are stacked in their favor and bring benefits towards their life.
5. We Want to, Consciously We cannot lie unconsciously. It takes a great amount of conscious effort to come up with a detailed and factual tale to convince others that it is the truth, even though it isn't. We lie because we want to, and because we can.
In the next few series and strings of articles, I will provide you with signs of a lie and how to see them.
