BMX bicycles are as much a commercial product as they are a recreational concept that has been woven into the fabric of America over the course of the past three decades. The International BMX Federation was founded in 1981 and the first BMX championships were held a year later. This began a worldwide showcase of the young sport and the introduction of a bevy of BMC tricks. In the 25 years since,BMX Tricks For Beginners Articles BMX tricks have evolved into mind-blowing jumps and stunts, the latest and greatest of which are often revealed to the world every summer during the annual X Games. For folks new to the great sport of BMX biking, here are 5 tricks that will get your confidence up while keeping your bone structure in tact.WheelieThe ability to ride a wheelie for at least 30 feet is probably the most basic BMX trick. A wheelie requires above average speed, decent upper body strength, excellent balance and a clear area. Thrust up powerfully on the front half of your bike while maintaining a consistent pedal revolution speed in order to get the hang of it.Bunny HopA bunny hop of any size demonstrates balance and control of a BMX bike. Mastering this BMX jump is essential to performing tricks that are more involved. By rolling the bike to a stop the moment before you attempt a bunny hop you will properly balance yourself, thus allowing you to pickup the skill quickly.EndoThe opposite of a wheelie, an endo is performed when the back wheel of a BMX bike is vaulted into the air by squeezing the front brakes. The trick is a momentary one and can be use to enter into a 180 degree turn once your skills become more advanced. Ice PickThis BMX trick involves a small ramp. Ascend at a medium speed and lift your front tire in the last few feet before the top of the ramp. Twist the back of the bike toward the ramp, using your right peg to catch and hold the bike on the edge of the coping. Once you become balanced, lean outward and thrust the bike back down the ramp. FootjamThe footjam is executed by wedging your foot in between the front fork and the front tire, stopping the bike in its tracks and giving you a temporary fulcrum on which to balance. These 5 tricks will help get you the experience you need to perform bigger and better tricks down the line - practice them until you are comfortable then check back for more bmxingtricks to try. Here's one of my favourite BMX tricks videos
