I Am back again with another interesting printer tutorial to fix the "printer unable 0A" error.
A little background story,Fix Brother Printer Not Working or Printing Articles I got my Brother DCP-L2550D printer here in Toronto, Canada via Amazon last year. It's been 1 year and 3 months since I got it and today I get the "Printer Unable 0A" error on my display panel and my printer refuses to print anything. These are the steps I took to fix it.

Solution 1: Unplug - Wait 30 Seconds - Reconnect!
(didn't work for me)
A quick Google search will take you to a solution on the Brother website that instructs you to unplug the printer from the port and plug it back in after 30 seconds of waiting. Tried it several times and it didn't solve the problem.

Solution 2: Try a different wall socket / clean the sensors
(didn't work for me)
Since solution 1 didn't work for me, I contacted Brother Canada tech support through their support chat and their agent asked me to follow these steps:
Unplug the printer from the wall outlet.
Open the front panel (the same way you would change an ink cartridge) and the back panel of the printer.

Open the front panel and remove the toner cartridge.
3. Remove the ink cartridge and clean the sensors with a soft cloth or soft brush. Ensure that there are no foreign materials blocking the sensors/gears.
4. After you have finished cleaning the front and back, reconnect the toner and close the front/back panels.
5. Reconnect the printer to the wall, but now to a different outlet.

Solution 3: Fix it yourself!
It worked for me, Yay!!
[Disclaimer: If you are not comfortable doing this, try to have the printer repaired at a reputable service center. I am not responsible for any damage to the printer by following any of the steps. Take standard safety precautions when working with mechanical or electronic components]
I clearly understood that this "printer 0A not available" issue was a mechanical error and decided to fix the printer myself. Fortunately, it only took about 15 minutes to figure it out!

  • Unplug the printer from the wall outlet.
  • Open the front panel and the toner cartridge.
  • Open the back panel and locate the screw to remove the slot on the right side of the printer.
  • Carefully remove the screen and remove the right side panel [be very careful when doing this]
  • You'll find the circuit board and fan on the right side.
  • Clean the fan and logic board if you find dust or foreign matter. I used a non-static brush and compressed air to clean it up.
  • Ensure that all cables are properly connected between the board and the fan.
  • Carefully reinsert the right side panel and secure it from the back.
  • Close the front and back panels and reconnect the printer to the wall.
  • If the issue is resolved, you should be able to turn the printer on again at this point.
