Kodaikanal is called as the princess of the mountains in Tamilnadu. It is located in Dindigul district.   1. Kodaikanal Lake

The Lake is an artificial one created by Sir Vere Hendry Levinge. He created this lake in Kodaikanal in 1863 when he was the collector of Madurai. The entire Kodaikanal region is under the control of him at the time. Whenever the British found hills in their colony countries they made it as summer vacation place for them. They have built a lot of gardens in these locations and built the road in and around their places.

The Lake is such one among those creativities. It has the circumference of 5 KM. The well-planned lake is precisely located in middle of the surrounding hills. It provides water to the municipality. It is a drinking water resource in the town. Boat riding is available in the Lake boat house. Most of the times the place is sizzling, and that is the perfect time to enjoy your boat ride. The entire lake was covered and fenced with steel gates.

If you go there at early morning, you can see people walking and jogging around the lake sideways. Some people do cycling also. Even a small car ride around the lake also takes 15 minutes of travel.

     3. Pillar Rocks

The Kodaikanal pillar rocks is a world famous boulders one and are liked very much by the geographist. Now the place is under the control of geological survey of India. Kodaikanal is always smoggy and full of clouds hanging around the area. Whenever you see the deep valley from the viewpoint, you will be amazed at the depth.

The Pillar Rock is located near the Kodaikanal Golf Club. You cannot go near the Pillar rock as the Government officials restricted it due to the suicidal attempt. However, you can view the rock from the viewpoint established by the Govt. The rock and the viewpoint have 100 feet distance, and deep valley covered it. The viewpoint is secured with the fence and a lot of people always takes photographs there. But you can get the clear photos only at some times when the cloud disappears.

The base of the rock lies under 30 Km depth. When you look at the rock, you will feel like standing in China region. The three boulders almost have the height of 300 Feets. It is entirely vertical. The best time to visit the place is 12 PM.

  1. Coaker’s walk

This is famous and green view point established in Kodaikanal by  Lt.Coaker in 1872. This is the pavement for pedestrian, and it is built by facing the south slope of Kodaikanal. The path length is 1 KM. You have to take a gate pass to enter the Coaker’s walk. The place is beautiful, and the cloud will pass through by touching your body. When you look at the clouds, you will feel like that mountain is covered by the white bedsheet.

The speciality here is the view of Theni and Periyakulam from the point. The telescope is established there, and you can watch the beauty of the of the valley and the towns by zooming through. The cost for entry to the telescope is only 6 RS. This one was built for walking purpose for the British people. You can see a stone carver which mentions the year of establishment.

When you visit Kodaikanal use a professional driver to drive the four-wheeler because the hill slope in town area are dangerous and causes the accident for inexperienced one. The traffic in the place is sometimes increasing so that you will come little by little by stopping your vehicle at the hillslope road.
