The hotel, which opened a little over a year ago, is built on a rehabilitated EPA "brownfield" site, transforming a once-contaminated area into a pristine location that meets the rigorous standards of EcoRooms & EcoSuites certification.

Sustainable Design and Operations

The hotel's design incorporates numerous eco-friendly features:

  • Cool Roofing Council certified roofing materials
  • Structural framing made from 90% post-consumer recycled steel
  • Recycling of demolition and construction waste
  • Xeriscaping with native plants, minimal turf, and water-saving irrigation
  • Preservation of a century-old live oak tree through bonding

In addition to its green design, the hotel has implemented various sustainable operating procedures:

  • Use of Green Seal certified or equivalent cleaning and paper products in guestrooms
  • Bathrooms equipped with amenity dispensers or small amenity sizes, with guests encouraged to take remaining items or donate them
  • Linen and towel reuse program
  • Clearly marked recycling receptacles
  • Energy-efficient lighting with CFL and LED technology

General Manager Chris Lewis highlights the team's dedication to causes such as Habitat for Humanity and Children's Miracle Network (CMN). The hotel has raised significant funds for CMN, including $7,000 during their grand opening and $5,861 on their anniversary celebration, contributing over $16,000 in various ways throughout the past year.
