Vijayawada is a city of Andhra Pradesh located on the banks of the Krishna River. Being a centre for trade and commerce, it is called the Business Capital of Andhra Pradesh.

• Gunadala Matha Shrine:  A church set up in 1925 in honour of Our Lady, Mother Mary. Located on a hillock, the church’s celebration of Our Lady of Lourdes attracts pilgrims from far and wide.

• Undavalli Caves: Located 8km from Vijayawada in Guntur, these caves are believed to be carved in 7th century AD.  It was a centre for Buddhist monks.

• Besant Road: Busiest location in the city featuring many theatres.

• Rajiv Gandhi Park: Created by the city’s corporation it features different types of horticultural specimens, a musical fountain and a mini zoo.

• Victoria Museum:  A   treasure trove of historical artefacts and a haven for archaeologists.

• Gandhi Hill: The first memorial for Gandhiji using seven Stupas on a hill about 500 feet high. It features a toy train, sound and light show on Gandhiji and Gandhi memorial library.

• Mogalarajapuram Caves: First of its kind in South India, it is believed to have been excavated in 5th century AD.

• Hazarat Bal Mosque: It houses a holy relic of Prophet Muhammad and attracts pilgrims from all faiths.

• Bhavani Island: One of the largest islands on the River Krishna and is being developed as a tourist spot.

• Mangalgiri: Located on a hillock in Guntur, it is the famous temple of Lord Narasimha of Mangalgiri.

• Kondapalli Fort: Built by King Krishna Deva Raya, it is an impressive rock tower of three storeys. It has served as business hub, a military training centre and nowadays, a picnic spot.

• Hinkar Thirtha: One of the largest Jain temples in the region featuring wonderful artistic work.

• Subramanya Swami Temple: Popular temple located on a hillock overlooking the Krishna River and the city.

• Amaravati: It is one of the most important Buddhist centres in the country.
