I have written many tips on how to save money once you are in your apartment, but what about affording the initial move?  There are plenty of ways to save money and make money if you are trying to move or relocate in the Atlanta area.  Buckhead is one of Atlanta’s most elite residential districts and has many sought-after properties.  Incredible shopping, local businesses, great restaurants and nightlife, and economic opportunities make Buckhead a great place to live.  If you are desperate to move to the city, but are short on funds, life can be frustrating.  Here are a few ideas to get your brain in saving and making money mode.

Are side jobs an option?  Many people are looking for short-term hires, especially during the holidays.  Retail stores, catering services, grocery stores and specialty businesses will need extra help during the holidays.  The major retail chains, like those found in Lenox Square, often hire in November for two months of extra hands.  Catering services are often looking for servers at holiday and fundraising banquets.  Grocery stores might need extra baggers or stockers, so it is always helpful to peruse the want ads this time of year.

If you are in undergraduate or graduate school, you might want to look into a work program for the spring semester.  Many work programs are short hours (maybe twenty hours a week) and pay pretty well.  The university library, writing center or individual professor might be looking for someone to help them with their paperwork, grading or research.

If you want to look for more creative jobs, check local newspapers and online magazines that might need freelance writers.  Many times, publications will hire people to review concerts, movies, plays, etc. for money.  Also, you might solicit yourself to local businesses to handle their social media or event planning.  Many local businesses will be looking for a way to get ahead for the upcoming year and may be open to new business ventures if you are experienced and trustworthy.
