Online dating, what is the big deal?
What is all this fuss about dating online anyway? Online dating is just a flash-in-the-pan, a craze, a fad, a one-trick pony, a passing phase like hakuna matata isn’t. It means no worries, for the rest of your days, except that your whole online life will be dominated by dating ads and targeted windows showing everybody that you’re single and completely useless at playing the field. I’ve been dating my whole life and I’ve never had to go online to find partnership! It’s simply a stroll and a smile away if you know what to do, and believe me sonny I know.
Take this one girl for instance, I was breezing past her on a warm and temperate day in olate spring and as my mouth passed near her ear shot I let out a wistful sigh. Although I said nothing, she was already thinking about dating me because I sounded like the kind of sensitive guy who liked to have fun but was also shrouded in many layers of mystery. How could I portray that sort of cloudy mystique in some online chat room? No, chatting in person is the only way to truly find a good date and online doesn’t compare.
This other time I simply sat down in a launderette and looked at a girl for ten minutes. I only slightly changed the look in my eye during the entire duration and it felt like it lasted forever but not once did she look away or call me a pervert; instead she was transfixed, which is a state you simply cannot reached on a website using a computer. You can send and receive flattering pictures, of course, which is all well and good but when it comes to the magic of the eyes or the smile it simply can’t be communicated online.
Being a natural is easy I suppose; not once did I have trouble with the opposite sex when I was growing up, but lots of my friends struggled to grab the attention of girls in the same way. Of course, once they realised that they were gay it was a whole different story and they slipped right into the same habits as me, but even they are all members of some chat site or another. It seems that I’ve been left behind by my peers as well as the younger generation. Poor me.
