Smelting and casting are the most important procedures of among the jewelry making progress. Due to the difficulty of manipulating temperature when smelting,Procedures of Jewelry Making, Smelting and Casting Articles massive production of jewelry is limited, while procedure of casting would take advantage of vacuum casting machine and centrifuges. I. Smelting After getting the needed metals and mending, mix the two together within the melting pot to start the smelting step. When this step is finished, casting is directly on the way. The key point in the course is about temperature. The smelting temperature of different materials is not the same, which is determined by the metal’s melting point and property. The melted liquid can flow into the four basic are of the jewelry model and different are would result in different effects of smelting. In order to make the melted pieces achieve the desired results, the first emergency we should get to know is the melting point and characteristics of the metal, which is regarded as to mater the furnace. It is seemed that the semi-liquid metal is of good mobility, but in fact it shocks of some more detailed producing, the thermal resided is not enough to make two parted hot liquids molten into one in the confluence, metal of the kinds would lead to the consequence of leaving small cooled pits, and not intact pattern when it is more seriously. Appropriate temperature would keep the metal melted liquid in good state of optimal fluidity to merge into complete and intact liquid. A well-trained master would follow the principle to smelt and work out the ideal product with his perfection in his studies. However, more severe consequences such as volatilities of effective ingredients, dry of the metal, and pits generated by the overheating and so on might be worse than inadequate melting point would be thus leaded as well due to the superheating state of the metal melting object.II. CastingCentrifugal casting machine is the most widely used machine, which is operated to complete the procedure by utilizing the principle of centrifugal force.Vacuum casting machine is of higher requirement on the mold cylinder and plaster mold, it is not that convenient in dealing with bottom of some containers. Though taking advantage of pouring casting method, the newly automatic vacuum casting machine is expensive and of big volume, which affects the application of the machine in the market.III. Hollow electroformingIn the development of the jewelry making crafts, the method of hollow electroforming gained a large success; the technology gradually matures due to the application of the new additives. In fact preparation of the hollow electroforming is almost similar to wax casting; the difference is the skipped steps of producing plaster mold. The main steps is to exert some sensitizing treatment on the surface to make the surface charged, and then finish the electroplating procedure in the special electroforming solution. The melting of the wax would be the last step to finish the hollow ornament.
