In a world where convenience is costly,Ways of Reducing Your Monthly Spending Articles one has to sometimes just step back and realize what the difference is between needs and convenience. Unfortunately, one may not realize this until something tragic happens like the loss of a job, or the death of a family member. That is when one will consider what options are available, to do some serious cutting back on the monthly bills.

First look at the utility bills and study them. The electric bill can be minimized by simple changes of setting timers on a tv, so it is not on all night, to changing bulbs and reducing the wattage that is being used. Nightlights will save on keeping extra lights on at night, or use small lamps with tiny bulbs to elegantly light the way.

The phone bill may be reduced if one has unlimited calling, but is not using it, cut it back to basic. Television options and how much one watches tv, can provide huge savings. Make a list of the most watched or preferred channels, and actually how much you watch tv, then change it. If it is on just for noise, as some call it, use a radio.

If one is paying for water, this can be a little harder to cut back on. Shorten shower time, or turn off water while washing and shave without the water running. Don’t fill up a tub. Use the rinse water from washing dishes to scrub floor. Turn off water while brushing teeth. These are quick to the point ideas, but they will greatly reduce the amount of the monthly bills. Remember, food is not an option, it is a necessity, so forget the junk food, and focus on foods that provide nutrition.
