Buying a second hand car can be a stressful transaction. One item that confuses many buyers is the issue of whether their purchase comes with car warranty included. We take a look at the UK situation.
Many of us have been through the stress of trying to buy a used car. Whether trying to deal with a private individual, or a pushy car salesman, trying to get a good deal on a used car without paying over the odds can be pretty tricky.
Given that we're generally trying to concentrate on checking a large number of issues, from previous owners to the regularity of servicing, it's no surprise that we may forget to enquire about vehicle warranty.
Then, some weeks later, when our second hand car breaks down, we often wonder about the issue of warranty. Is the seller of the vehicle obliged to provide assistance, since the car broke down so quickly?
You may be surprised to find that the seller of a vehicle does not have to provide warranty on the vehicle. They will, in effect, be selling the vehicle "as seen".
This only goes to emphasise the importance of checking the car out properly before making a purchase. Always insist on a test drive.
If you don't have enough knowledge about how cars work, then you could consider asking an independent expert to check the car for you, before you make a purchase.
The RAC and AA will both carry out such checks on used cars, for a fee.
Some used cars do come with a warranty of course. Used car dealerships will sometimes include some form of warranty as part of the price.
If you're told that such warranty is being provided, then don't assume that this will be the case. Always check that the warranty is in place and make sure that you know what's covered.
When it comes to buying a second hand car, it really is a case of buyer beware.
You need to check both the vehicle and the warranty situation before you finalise the purchase. Attempting to clarify the situation at a later date may prove a fruitless task.
How do you decide how much to spend on games?
For many of us, video games are seen as an essential source of entertainment. Just as we are happy to go to the cinema, to buy a CD, or to buy a DVD, so we see gaming as an experience that helps us to enjoy ourselves. When you know that you play too many video games
I must declare that I'm an avid gamer, but there have been times in life when I've realised that I've been spending a little too much time playing games. Have you ever had any incidents that indicate that you may have problems of a similar nature?Include a diving experience within your travel plans
One of the best aspects of travelling is that there's a real ability to define travel plans that meet your own, individual needs. I love hearing other people talking about the different places that they have visited, even if some locations don't really appeal to me.
