If the dealer is unable to produce a proper service record then it is advisable not to buy the bus however attractive the price might seem to you. • Engine: The best option is to buy the biggest engine that you can possibly afford. Though small engines provide with better fuel mileage, but that is so because then you would have spend a huge amount of money for conversion parts.
• Body style: For a school a bus a flip-front is suggested. This provides the bus with a more “school bus look”. These body styles come at very low costs and can be steered very easily.
• Size: School buses that are used will get heavier with modifications. Hence, in such cases it is always better to buy smaller buses. If the bus is long and to top that you have added extra weight of modifications then the bus will not steer properly. In fact, the engine and transmission will also not work properly, the tires will erode, brakes will also start malfunctioning and the suspensions will flatten. • Transmissions: It is advisable to buy automatic transmission buses. This is so because if ever you decide to resell your bus then it would be easier for you to sell it.
